Cottage is very well equipped, and perfectly situated for access to the Lakes. The owner is extremely helpful, and there is a wealth of information in the cottage to help you make the most of your visit to the Lakes.

One of the best places that we have stayed in, very comfortable and an interesting garden especially if you like birds. It is central to a lot of interesting places to visit, Penrith is quite close for supplies and if you are eating out there are some local places to go and eat. (Beehive is very good) Cottage was kept very clean and had clean items changed part way through the holiday which is good.

Sadly we had a difficult journey to get to the cottage, however all our tension disappeared as soon as we saw the beautiful setting it is in. Then we went inside..... WOW!!! The cottage is stunning! The whole place is spotlessly clean, comfortable and very well equipped. The owners have clearly thought of everything, right down to kitchen utensils and matches! The information book is a godsend and the welcome gift was a lovely surprise, especially after our journey. Everywhere we looked around the cottage there was evidence that this obviously a well loved, and maintained home. We were instantly comfortable and it was wrench to tear ourselves away at the end of our stay. The garden is gorgeous and sitting in the conservatory, relaxing in recliner chairs and watching the birds, became the norm for us. The garden is teeming with life and there was such a rich array of birds to watch as they came to the bird feeders. We lost count of the varieties and it was another reason for us to want to return to Fern Cottage. The local area is beautiful and there are so many walks and places to go within a short distance. We loved the fact that, within 5 minutes walk, we were in the middle of unspoilt countryside and were watching the lambs and cows in the local fields. We cannot wait to return to Fern Cottage and would more than happily recommend it to anyone who wants to have a relaxed, comfortable and welcoming home from home in this beautiful part of the Country.
