Peebles is a great starting point for keen cyclists and walkers, with many way marked routes in the area, and Glentress Forest is the go-to destination for mountain bikers or Go Ape fans. For a small town, there is a surprising choice of excellent cafés, pubs and restaurants, along with independent shops and galleries.

Explore the pretty Border towns where there are ancient abbeys, historic houses, fabulous gardens and wonderful scenery to savour. Traquair House, 7 miles, has a brewery, maze and a fascinating history. Beach 26 miles. Shop 240 yards, pub 440 yards and restaurant 275 yards.
