A great base for history lovers, with Battle Abbey and the famous battle site of 1066 just a short distance away.

At the heart of the stunning and historical 1066 country, nestling down a private lane on the edge of the owner’s campsite set in 14 acres of beautiful countryside, is Evergreen. This detached holiday property has its own small, private garden and parking. Take advantage of the various nature trails from the doorstep within this quaint and secluded valley, and spot badgers, deer, woodpeckers, owls, bats and buzzards. In spring, the woods become a carpet of bluebells, and there are also orchids to enjoy. A well-stocked, coarse fishing lake containing carp and roach is on site and can be used free of charge (licence required), plus there is also a children’s play area and a small shop. Horse riding nearby. Crowhurst is a 10-minute walk where there is a stunning RSPB reserve. Visit Battle Abbey and famous battle site of 1066, the beach at Hastings, 5 miles, with its iconic black fishing net huts, or the famous, golden sand dunes at Camber, 19 miles. Explore castles at Bodiam, Pevensey and Herstmonceus, which also has a hands-on science centre and observatory. A train station is nearby offering links to Hastings and London. Shop 150 yards, pub 1 mile and restaurant 11/2 miles.

Quiet campsite in nice valley but views from Evergreen were a little restricted by high hedges but maybe some people like the seclusion. The floor is not very level and felt spongy in a couple of areas. The decking outside the front door was slippery when wet. However, a very well equipped property and could not fault the cleanliness and the welcome pack was a nice thought.

Nice holiday, nice home, but some weaknesses. Well equipped, cosy home at a silent campsite. The home wasn't superb cleaned (kitchen equipment). The floor of the home is wobbling due to the construction. The garden isn't that big, but there are chairs for relaxing and a garden set. Overall, it was a comfort stay, and not too expensive. The playground for kids is very small. No swings etc.
