Great little lodge in a great location with walks on the doorstep, meaning we could get out and about without resorting to the car. More lodges than we were expecting on the site, but was not a problem. Pool was useful addition, much enjoyed by the kids. Nearest shops in Ambleside although parking can be an issue. Some nice pubs in area, and recommend Hawkshead which is a lovely little village.

Beautiful location. But the tariff for lodge very expensive for what it was. Quite deceptive in pics as really not a lodge but a caravan without the wheels.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thanks for your review. We think it’s a great location too! For the benefit of others reading your review, we would like to note that we, as owners, are not responsible for the pricing. The agency has vast experience in the holiday let market and we rely on their judgement for getting the pricing right. We would also like to note that the wooden lodges were manufactured in Europe and assembled on site (they are not caravans). Neaum Crag has a number of private wooden lodges distributed amongst mature woodland, offering privacy and peace, but with excellent access to the outdoor life, straight from the door.

Loved the location lots of lovely walks from the lodge and they had left maps of walks which was nice. Cottage not too bad for money but very dark inside as it’s amongst trees but we enjoyed our stay

This cottage should not be advertised as 4 Star accommodation. The 2nd bedroom is basically a cupboard with tiny bunk beds not suitable for any age group of children. The main bedroom was damp and smelled fusty and was in need of a deep clean. We had to cut our holiday short because of the damp conditions of the lodge we all became ill with coughs and chest infections. Completely spoilt our break it was more like camping in a damp tent . The location was great and the other amenities this lodge is in need of complete refurbishment

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are very sorry your holiday did not meet your expectations. If you had contacted us, we would have done everything under our control to help rectify your concerns. We often stay at the property ourselves, with our children (13 years old) and we would always want our guests to be as comfortable as we are. We don’t feel your review is representative of the majority of our guests, two thirds of which offer a 9 or 10 out of 10. As such, we would like to offer the following comments for the benefit of others. We would encourage guests to read the property description. It is 3 star, not 4 star as you mention. The second bedroom is described as a bunk room that is suitable for children (where it also highlights the width of the beds, which are full length). Many many families with children up to teenage years have stayed at our property. Many younger children find the room ‘fun’ to stay in, and in fact some adults have also slept in the room (where we have communicated with them in advance to double check they understand the size of the beds). You visited the Lake District when it had been a particularly rainy period, and when walking on the fells, wet clothes and shoes are brought inside. This is why we installed a dehumidifier around 3 years ago. A sign is left beside it, encouraging guests to leave it on as much as they wish, to ensure they are comfortable. I think you appear to indicate that the property and the weather were the cause of chest infections. We are truly sorry your holiday did not turn out as you would have liked. When surrounded by mature woodland and walks straight from the door, dirt can be brought into the property very easily, and this is perhaps worse in wet conditions, as it seems you have experienced. We did have some concerns with our former cleaners, but have recently changed and are confident the property is thoroughly cleaned before each guest arrives. We frequently visit the property to keep on top of maintenance and decoration and also make regular improvements to the fixtures & fittings.

Lovely cabin to stay in, in the heart of the lake district. Dog friendly with plenty of walks on the doorstep. A bottle of wine greeted us after a 6 hour drive, very much appreciated. Clean, warm and comfy cabin. Tired bed, but other than that excellant. Will be returning again.

This was a comfortable lodge for the 3 of us (2 adults and 1 10 year old) we would not recommend this for a family of 4 with older children as the second bedroom is very small. There is plenty to do in the area for all ages. We used the leisure facilities daily and although the pool is kept at 29 degrees it does feel somewhat cool when you first enter it. Elterwater lodge was clean upon arrival and the supply of tea and coffee was appreciated. The beds were comfortable and the sofas were also comfy.
