National Trust Holiday Cottage

This Grade ll listed property is a rare example of a beautiful, unspoilt 17th-century cottage which has been restored to maintain the essential character and features such as the slate flag floors and low beamed ceilings. The cottage has a garden and is tucked away on its own in the lovely wooded Valency Valley, just metres from the river, and a mile upstream from Boscastle, one of the most unspoilt and breathtakingly beautiful villages in Cornwall. Home to quaint, stone built cottages, shops, art galleries, tea rooms, an Elizabethan quay and coastal walks.
Step outside the door onto footpaths of the Valency Valley, leading to the almost forgotten churches of Minster and St Juliot, once made famous by Thomas Hardy.
The valley sides are lined with one of the largest expanses of oak woodland in North Cornwall, and the valley meadows are home to many butterflies including the pearl-bordered fritillary, and birds such as the dipper.
There are sandy and surfing beaches in either direction. Bude, Tintagel and Port Isaac are a short drive away, and this is the perfect base from which to explore both the coast and the countryside.
Just a short drive away or even accessible on foot, about 11/2 miles from the cottage is West Country Trout Fishing, where you can fish for rainbow trout and even the Boscastle Blue. Shop, pub and restaurant 11/3 miles.
