Featured in the magazine Country Life and Gardeners Illustrated in 2012, the grounds are a big feature to this property, and are maintained by several gardeners throughout the year. The approach to Eldred House is through a secluded woodland road leading to a stunning view of the property, onto a sweeping gravelled drive, accommodating plenty of parking.
Decorated and furnished to an excellent standard throughout, guests have a choice of 8 spacious bedrooms including a top floor apartment-style room with a kitchenette and seating area. It boasts a delightful entrance hall which leads to the elegant drawing room with shuttered sash windows and views over the grounds and landscaped gardens and with the benefit of a gym. There are several open fireplaces within the property for that warm cosy feel in the winter. Although the kitchen is spacious and well-equipped with an Aga, microwave and contemporary fixtures it does not have a conventional oven for cooking. This is the perfect hub for any large family or groups of friends who wish to celebrate and enjoy a country getaway. Renovations to this property mean that the quality is to a fantastic standard, however still in keeping with the character and charm that guests desire. The combination of outstanding beauty, fantastic location and quality accommodation makes Eldred House the perfect location that guests will never forget.

Local attractions include Colchester Castle and Colchester Zoo, with its fantastic range of animals including leopards, elephants, tigers and much more.     An amazing house in fantastic grounds, from the moment you walk through the door you feel at home. It exceeded our expectations for what we saw on the website. Didn't want to leave and will definitely find a reason to go back!

    We had a fantastic stay at Eldred House, the house and ground were stunning. It's in a great location with loads of land to explore but close enough to shops if needed. We had a lovely roast dinner on the Sunday and ate it in the dining room which is amazing. We needed a bit more information on the recycling requirements and would've loved a hot tub but apart from that can thoroughly recommend for a group stay, no one will be disappointed with their room!

    Fantastic venue for a group get-together. Historic, spacious building, restored to the highest standards, quality brands, comfy beds, superb garden and woodlands. We even mastered the Aga. Well recommended.
