Elberry Cottage is a lovely bungalow just a stroll away from the beach, or enjoy the sea views from comfort of the living room.

Located on the English Riviera in Paignton, this is a superb, modern and spacious detached bungalow. Tastefully and comfortably furnished it is located just a short walk from the beach at Broadsands. The holiday property has a light, bright and airy interior, with a good sized family kitchen, and living room with lovely sea glimpses (clear view in winter) across the bay to Torquay, and doors that open up into the enclosed rear patio garden whilst to the front is a further enclosed large lawned garden. The beach at Broadsands is a gently sloping, sandy beach popular with families with children. There are two beach cafes, and water activities and sports can be enjoyed here. The steam train runs along here to Kingswear near Dartmouth, and from the rear garden you may see the train travelling along the viaduct behind Broadsands. There are some superb walks around this stretch of coastline, across fields to Elberry Cove, a small pebbly beach, the path continues along the coast to the fishing village of Brixham. This is a very popular destination for holiday makers as there is so much to see and do in the area. From visiting Paignton Zoo, the water park at Goodrington Sands, the seaside shops and amusements at Paignton, the steam train to Kingswear, fish and chips on the harbour at Brixham, or take the ferry over to Dartmouth where boat trips can be taken around the headland and across the bay to Torquay. Coarse fishing and golf are available nearby. Shops and restaurant ½ mile, pub 1 mile.

A very nice cottage close to the beach and ideal as a base for visiting other places in the Torbay area. Local supermarket & fish and chip shop close by. We would recommend to others with one or two reservations: The kitchen sink was very stained and obviously had not been cleaned thoroughly. However, with a little elbow grease, this came up reasonably well. We did have a few problems with the TV handset which seemed very erratic, and also the kettle fused whilst we were there and there were no instructions as to where the fuse box was located. When we did find the cupboard, the handles had been tied together, indicating entry was forbidden! I suspect a previous occupier had tied these together to prevent small children from opening, so perhaps the owners would like to consider a lock of some sort for safety. Lastly, there was a bit of confusion regarding the rubbish disposal. These are just small niggles, but when you are paying a lot of money you do not expect to encounter any problems.

Just one or two minor points. The fixed bath screen was a bit difficult for us as we had quite a long way to stretch over the bath to reach the taps. A couple more small saucepans in the kitchen would have been useful as there was only the two of us and we did not need enormous saucepans. These are only small observations and overall the bungalow was lovely and very well fitted out. Seaside theme was great.

Lovely cottage in a great location - walking distance to the beach, lots of local attractions within a 20 minute drive. The cottage was spacious. I liked being able to see the steam train go past in the distance from the back garden. Nice front garden for the children to play in.

A very comfortable property where we felt very much at home. We were a family of three adults, a toddler & 9 mth old baby. There was plenty of room inside for the children to play, crawl etc. The DVD player was very useful for them - for some reason the Freeview didn't have CBeebies. We used the front garden only. The back patio garden was not safe for small children due to uneven slabs, steps & rickety balastrades. The kitchen was well equipped although the oven took a long time to heat up. None of the above caused us any real problems, but they are worth noting. The beach was literally a flat six minute walk with all the basic amenities required for a day by the sea. A One-Stop store, Pharmacy & fish & chip restaurant was a ten minute walk up the hill. Paignton with all it offers is a ten minute drive away - a visit to the zoo was a great success. We had a very enjoyable week, due to good weather, the comfort of the property & the proximity of the beach & amenities.
