This was our second visit to The Old Shippen. It is a lovely peaceful ‘cottage’ in a remote part of Devon. Just right for enjoying cliff walks and nature. There are also good pub/restaurants a short drive away. Pete And Clare we’re welcoming and helpful. We will return.

Fantastic stay at the Old Shippen. The cottage was lovely and Peter and Claire were also very helpful, very knowledgable about the local area and good walks. They were great hosts with nothing being too much trouble. A lovely festive welcome pack and fresh eggs and bread for our first breakfast. The cottage itself is really well equipped with a real fire to supplement the electric heating. The farm has its own water well and water supply and it tasted great too. The cottage is farm enough into the countryside to give superb peace and quiet with an amazing dark sky for the stars. About 20 mins to Bude for all the main supermarkets. Recommend the Speaks mill waterfall walk from Stoke it was about a 2.5 hour walk with the Heartland quay pub in the middle. Can also be walked direct from the cottage. Wanted for nothing. Great hosts superb location once you have got your shopping. 10 out of 10.

Clare & Pete were excellent hosts & certainly go the extra mile. Lovely welcome pack & the barn was roomy, cosy & everything catered for. Lovely setting in rural location surrounded by farmland. Very peaceful getaway hearing bird's & owls at night & lovely garden area & linney (sheltered) for outdoor space & barbecue. Would highly recommend, close to the beautiful coast & surrounding countryside. Lot's to see & do for children & adults alike. Close to Cornwall. Many thanks to Clare & Pete.

A warm welcome from Peter and Clare really set the scene for the whole week. The cottage was cosy extremely well decorated and furnished with absolutely everything we could possibly need, in fact the best holiday cottage that we have ever stayed in. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we hope to go back next year for longer
