Ebor Cottage is a stone-built, end-terrace cottage, dating back to the 18th century and sits within the pretty village of Terrington, within the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Refurbished throughout in 2019, this lovely property offers a wonderful space for couples or a small family seeking to enjoy all that this area has to offer.
Entering the cottage through the front door, the cosy living room is the first room you will encounter. With comfortable sofa and chair, a traditional wood burner and excellent interior design, this is the perfect location to relax and unwind in front of the fire after a long day exploring, or perhaps enjoy a drink whilst planning the following day’s adventure. The bespoke Shaker style kitchen/dining room has a solid oak floor and has been creatively extended; the chef in the family will be thrilled with the facilities on offer, from the Belfast sink to top of the range facilities. The round dining table is tucked into a nook and is ideally placed to enjoy delicious home cooked meals, or just a sociable area to sit and watch others preparing a mouthwatering feast. The On the first floor, there are two bedrooms: a kingsize with a walk-in wardrobe, and a single. Both have been lovingly furnished with your comfort in mind, and both offer lovely village views. To the rear of the property is a secluded, enclosed garden with a patio, barbecue and lawned area; the pretty borders are a haven for wildlife. Why not take a seat outside and relax with a good book or just sit and take in the Yorkshire air?
With so much on offer in the area, there is something for everyone. The Howardian Hills can be explored by bike or on foot, and for lovers of architecture, a visit to Castle Howard is an absolute must; arguably one of the best country houses in the country and nearby Castle Howard, home of ITV’s ’Brideshead Revisited’. For museums, shops, cafés, restaurants and centuries of history, there is just so much to choose from. From York to Helmsley and Malton to Thirsk, your day trips will certainly be unforgettable. This area of North Yorkshire is famed for its food and you will be spoilt for choice with Michelin star restaurants, gastro pubs, independent cafés and restaurants all within an easy distance. Why not stop by one of the many farm shops to stock the cupboards with delicious treats. Shop 50 yards, pub 3½ miles, and numerous restaurants within 8 miles.

Had a short (Monday to Friday) break in this wonderful, cosy cottage. It was the end of October so could not use the outdoor space much however the inside more than made up for it. The living room is perfect for 3 people with the bonus of a log burner (extra logs are available from the shop next door). The kitchen dining area is spacious, modern and well equipped. Then another bonus with a downstairs WC. Upstairs, 2 spacious bedrooms with comfortable beds. The cottage is set back from the main road through village with the shop/tea room 30yds away. Our days were spent walking in the surrounding countryside. Terrington is surrounded by public footpaths/bridleways. Castle Howard is 5 mins away by car. We also took a walk on the beach from Hunmansby Gap to Filey and back. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and, unlike some cottages we have stayed in, we would definitely return.

Ebor Cottage was a lovely cottage which was comfortable, warm and attractive. For someone who likes to cook, the kitchen was great and we enjoyed trips to Malton, Walks with our dogs (who were thought of in the preparation of the cottage) and to a brilliant pub on the other side of the A1, called the Grantley Arms. We can't recommend it enough although it is not that close to Ebor Cottage. It was lovely to have a garden, particularly when the rain stopped and sun shone. We will return if we are in the area again and many thanks to the owners for sharing their lovely cottage.
