There is a lovely feeling when you walk in - a really well though out design and mostly plush looking furnishings. Great shower in en suite, lovely linens on bed. The location is wonderful. The little walled garden is really pretty with some unusual birds (linnet and spotted flycatcher, we think). BUT there are some issues which prevent us returning - you are open view to staff using the cleaning cupboard which is next to the glass front door (no curtain) and to the chap using the barn next door (no curtains on all windows along corridor). The staff use the cupboard for other properties, not just The Stable, so they are there potentially any morning. The chap using the barn makes a racket for a few hours, but it was only on a couple of days. Someone else rents part of the Farmhouse as her home and parks near the recycling bins, leaving some days at 5.30am - which woke me up. You are at the mercy of how well trained the dogs are in other properties - we were lucky for 5 days and then yappy dogs arrived...To rent out the barn to a business and another property as a fulltime home feels too much of a compromise for peace and quiet for a holiday place. The dogs thing is unfortunate. Some repair/maintenance issues - toilet flush in en suite doesn't always switch off, front door handle is almost non-functioning to lock, the key safe is a tad old - at least the staff get a nice one that looks easier to read and use, door to middle bedroom doesn't close without brute force, light over mirror in main bathroom is broken, knives are really blunt, dishwasher didn't clean properly because filter was in wrong (now fixed by us), mega cobwebs above curtain rail height, a hand towel in the kitchen would be helpful seeing as there is thoughtfully hand soap at the sink, the en-suite under-sink cupboard looks so tired and tatty it's embarrassing to look at (pretty knobs on it though), ventilation in the master bedroom is a challenge with the tiny window in the bathroom being the only easily open-able window - we managed to force the small sash window open but the high window is too high to reach and the patio doors not safe to leave open with a cat wandering round and the random open access to the car parking/barn/staff cupboard. It feels as if the owners have got complacent and have forgotten the basic needs of good maintenance and that most people want peace and quiet for their holiday, and they get bookings because of the great location and justly good pictures of a charming interior but the issues I mention cannot be known from that.

The place has magnificent views over St. Brides Bay. And is very close to Martin's Haven where the boat leaves for Skomer island. If you like puffins you will love The Stable and its surroundings!
