The private patio is an ideal spot to enjoy watching the visiting wildlife and birds. Woodmancott is a hamlet close to Winchester, a medieval city surrounded by picturesque villages and scenic countryside, and is a culturally rich and vibrant destination.

Visit the magnificent 900-year-old Winchester Cathedral and take a tour. Enjoy lunch in one of the award-winning pubs or restaurants, browse the ancient and modern shopping streets where you will find a thriving independent vibe from artisan bakers and butchers to lively art galleries, a working mill (the oldest in the country) and colourful markets. For rail enthusiasts, visit Alresford and Alton for the mid Hants Watercress Line or just to visit on market days. Nearby, visit Rooksbury Mill nature reserve for a day’s fishing in a beautiful natural setting, or visit Blackwood Forest for a lovely walk or cycle and finish up in the nice restaurant/coffee shop which is just 5 minutes away. Highclere Castle stands in stately Victorian splendour amidst 1000 acres of spectacular parkland and will be familiar to many as TV’s ’Downton Abbey’. Outside, explore the gardens, woodland and surrounding parkland where you can enjoy the views of the Kennet Valley.

Visit Jane Austen’s house museum, responsible for such well-loved literary masterpieces such as ’Pride and Prejudice’ and ’Sense and Sensibility’. The novelist Jane Austen lived out her last eight years with her sister and widowed mother in this modest 17th century cottage in the picturesque Meon Valley. The New Forest has over 200 square miles of mixed woodland and heathland which is an outdoor lovers paradise. Explore by bicycle, on foot or even on horseback and keep your eyes open for a glimpse of the famous New Forest ponies which roam wild in the woods. Also visit Lyndhurst, with the New Forest Visitor Museum and the Georgian market town of Lymington with harbourside restaurants and views. Within an hour’s drive travel to Southampton, Portsmouth (Spinnaker tower and Gun Wharf Keys), Salisbury, Stone Henge, Christchurch (Avon Beach at Mudeford), Waterloo Station (by Train), Bournemouth (pier and beaches), Boscombe (surf reef), Beaulieu House and Gardens, Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium, Marwell Zoo, Milestones Museum and The Hawk Conservancy to name a few! Shop 3 miles, pub (dog friendly) and restaurant 2 miles.

Quiet rural setting. Discrete but friendly hosts. Spacious, light accommodation surrounded by fields. The only negative would be the sound of the motorway.
