Beautifully appointed ground floor one bedroom apartment has uninterrupted views over Oban Bay to Kerrera and the Sound of Mull. The Isle of Kerrera can be accessed by a ferry from the north pier (the one with the two red roofed buildings) and is a lovely place to spend the day walking the island and finishing off with some lunch at the only café on the island. Another nice walk or cycle is to go along the promenade towards Ganavan Sands, you can go off the main road and through Dunollie Castle and then from Ganavan. If you are still feeling energetic, you can walk over to the neighbouring village of Dunbeg via the cycle path. There is a cycle path taking you most of the way from Oban to Fort Wiliam with a good number of cafés and restaurants en-route.
Other ferry trips can be to the neighbouring island of Lismore or over to Mull, Iona and Staffa, these can be done independently but if you want to enjoy the scenery you can book to get a coach tour once on Mull (if you are not used to single track roads it may be best doing this!)
Oban is the fish capital of the Highlands, so lots of good fish restaurants in and around the town as well as other types of restaurants. Glencoe and the rugged mountains are a 30-minute drive north, you can also venture a bit further and go to Fort William and go on the Harry Potter Steam train, over the Glenfinnan Viaduct giving you a glimpse of the scenery and beaches that cannot be seen from the road and arriving at the final destination of Mallaig, another village well known for the fresh fish. Argyll is famous for its open gardens and garden centers, as is Appin and the surrounding areas have quite a few too!
