Dunvant is a great location for exploring the area (particularly by bike) and the grounds surrounding the cottage were beautiful with plenty of space for children to run around. Unfortunately, the cottage and facilities weren't really up to par. The walls between the cottages must have been paper thin because you could hear everything going on next door (both sides). The kitchen was poorly equipped with rips in the cushions of the dining table chairs, an oven that wouldn't reach the correct temperature and something (assuming mice) had a nibble at our stored food overnight. The games room sounded like a nice idea and was one of the reasons we chose the cottage but the equipment was in a poor state of repair e.g. all of the table tennis bats were damaged in some way. We didn't even bother trying to use the pool table, put off by the miserable Fawlty-Towers style notice (one of many all over the place) stating that a £10 deposit was required and that children under 14 were banned due to previous incidents - perhaps this useful information should be added to the cottage details? I can't comment on the welcome as we never met the owners nor did they answer the provided mobile phone when we called several times or reply to our text when we tried to advise of our arrival time. The cottage details said that a 'welcome pack' was included but I've no idea what that was supposed to be. We've stayed at many cottages over the years and most of them I would happily return to but not in this case.

Poppy cottage was very well kept and well resourced, it had everything we needed. Warmth, washing up liquid and friendly owners. It's close to lovely beaches, coastal walks and nice restaurants. Would thoroughly recommend and stay again especially with a larger family group needing separate accommodation. Our 7 year old had fun learning ping pong in the games room and having an Easter egg hunt in the grounds with our friends. A good find.
