This architect designed holiday bungalow is situated in approximately 1/4 acre of grounds, close to Lake Windermere amongst pleasant woodland with mountain views from its hillside position on the outskirts of the picturesque historic village of Hawkshead. Situated at the head of Esthwaite Water, 2 miles from Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top farm, it is ideally located for walking and exploring the Lake District, as well as local attractions including Grizedale Forest and Tarn Howes. Golf, swimming and tennis within 7 miles. A good central location for touring and sightseeing. The village centre is traffic free and there are numerous shops, restaurants and pubs 1/4 mile.

    This cosy cottage is privately located about a 3 minute walk from Hawkshead village centre. It is very well situated for walks from the door. Views from most windows are marvellous! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be re-booking for a return visit!

    Fantastic house in a spectacular setting. Mountain or hillside views from every room, the sitting room with panoramic windows was a real treat. Warm, well decorated and comfortable throughout. Hawkshead village is a 5 minute pleasant walk away with a mix of traditional pubs, quaint cafes and a useful co-op supermarket. Would benefit from towels, a dishwasher and a welcome pack would’ve been nice. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

    Our second visit to this excellent cottage, within 500m of Hawkshead centre, although in a very private and quiet site with superb views. One of the best cottages we have rented over many years, well equipped, good heating and very comfortable. Wifi and mobile telephone signals were very good and reliable. The only minor lack was that towels are not supplied although linen and tea towels are.

    The cottage was located at the end of private road which for the last 100 metres or so narrowed to a little more than the width of our car, the hedge would need cut back more than it was. The three bedrooms were all made up on arrival at 3pm, a double, a twin and a single. Bring your own towels, toilet paper, hand wash etc. The living room was large and comfortable, but there was some mould behind the curtains. The kitchen was well equiped. There was a lovely view from every window. The gardens were the best part for me, our three small children loved running about in them and I could have a coffee at the table outside and admire the surrounding countryside. Beware the big spiders that roam throughout the house, our son found some living under the fridge/freezer were a couple of pipes come through the floor. The note about bin collection day is maybe a bit out of date, it says to put the bins out for Monday morning but they're really collected on the Wednesday. One big complaint we have was that no one informed us when we needed to vacate the premises, only when it was available from; there was nothing in the house either like a welcome pack to inform us when we needed to leave so we guessed 11am, we guessed wrong. A young man knocked on the door at 10am sharp telling us he was there to tidy the place up (we'd already done that so he didn't have much to do). Our three children were eating a late breakfast whilst we parents finished packing the car, the young man asked if we would be out in 10 minutes as we were already supposed to have left. We explained that this was the first time we'd been told about the 10am deadline and I could show him the booking, but his answer was simply our paperwork didn't interest him and we needed to leave. We asked for 30 minutes and by 10.30am we were driving up the road feeling that this unwanted conflict had spoiled what was otherwise a nice stay at Drumlin. A simple extra line in the corresponding emails or a note on the kitchen table about 10am check out would have left us all avoiding this feeling of getting evicted.

    Beautiful house; very clean, well maintained & well equipped. Only fault noticed was some slots of the toaster were not working: not a problem for us but could do with replacing. A library of DVDs would be good, too - we had a pretty wet week, and, nit having taken any DVDs with us, found we were only able to buy DVDs when we went to Ambleside or Penrith. Those two minor things aside, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay; if the owner wanted to sell and we had the money, we’d buy it!

    This is a lovely bungalow with the most stunning views close to a wonderful village. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and with stunning weather made the most of the superb garden. Would definitely book again.

    This is a lovely bungalow in a good position with great views to the hills - especially from the kitchen while washing the pots! It is just a very short walk into Hawkshead center with all it's pubs and cafes and little shops. I liked the fact that the house had three different garden areas - a patio with views, a lower garden still in full sun and a shady garden (which was much needed in the week that we were there. Plenty of seating in the lounge. I note that a previous person found the lounge too cold - well it was too hot whilst we were there as it huge picture windows but only a couple of windows which will open. I travelled with my son, his partner and 3 year old. There was something in the area for all of us and we all loved the house. We are now all Peter Rabbit experts.

    Enjoyed our stay. Some of the furniture and carpets could possibly be updated but everything else is excellent.
