Excellent location and very cosy cottage. However, the cottage is starting to look a bit worn out and in need of some general maintenance. In addition and as you are in a countryside / seaside / farming environment you do get some small furry guests in the house. We attempted to block some holes around the property but small field mice still get in. Although both my wife and me are not bothered about mice, even when I saw one sitting on the side table watching us eat our dinner. This might cause alarm to others.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; David, I am sorry you had a visitor during your stay in Driftwood. Yes it is a very old atmospheric cottage and as with most old properties there are some very small gaps between floor and skirting’s which it would be possible for a mouse to come through in from the cold. I wish you had contacted me as I ask all my guests when they arrive if there are problems. The cottage has an annual update when we decorate where necessary and repair anything damaged. Jan.

The location of this cottage is beautiful. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend a stay here at the moment as it just felt jaded inside. A broken blind, loo-roll holders falling off, three teaspoons... I appreciate that I could have reported these during my stay, but I really shouldn’t have to: it’s what cleaning time on changeover day is for. The lady who owns the cottage really is lovely and there are some nice touches to the place which would be far better after a couple of hours of DIY.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you Elizabeth for your comments which we always take very seriously. It is a shame you did not report the broken blind when this happened as with the loo roll holder as both could have been repaired very quickly and were on the changeover day when they were discovered. The lack of teaspoons has been addressed and brought to the attention of our housekeeper. Jan.

Driftwood is a very comfortable cottage in Craster right on the coast. It is perfect for couples but might be a little cosy if you have 4 people in it. Everything you need for an excellent holiday is included. There is a seating area both front and back but be aware that there is nowhere for kids to run around if you are going as a family. There is an enclosed play area in Craster though. All in all a lovely cottage in a lovely location.

This is our second holiday at Driftwood Cottage & we enjoyed another lovely week. The cottage is very cosy & welcoming, with everything we need for a self-catering holiday. The location is superb with the magical Dunstanburgh Castle very close by, & seascapes & country walks from the the doorstep. All the places you could wish to visit are a few minutes drive away, & when you've finished, Driftwood Cottage provides a wonderfully relaxing home from home to return to.

Nice little cottage just up from the sea in a quaint seaside village with great access to the coast for walking and sightseeing. Cottage could have been a lot cleaner and better equipped but overall we had a nice stay and it’s well located.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I am unsure as to where the cottage was dirty, I have checked this cottage myself and apart from a small stain on the sofa seat (very small) and a couple of cobwebs very high up in the kitchen I could not find anything else wrong. I have not had any previous complaints and am pleased to hear that despite this you still enjoyed your stay. Jan.
