A perfect location for visiting friends and relatives in the area. Nice bungalow with everything you need for a comfy stay. Very peaceful and great if you have a dog as the garden is secure.

Comfortable bungalow with interesting walks from the door. Ideally situated for visiting coast and National Trust properties.

My first thought after a tiring journey due to road works was "Isnt this lovely" - really nice little bungalow. Comfy, cosy, convenient and the enclosed safe garden for our dog was a bonus. We enjoyed sitting out there. Good dog walks and beaches close by. Sainsbury down the road really handy. Good take aways. My one personal preference is for a dish washer over the washing machine. I realise space is limited but maybe the fridge could be moved into the larder and the space filled with a dish washer? Fascinated by the shower head!!! I gave a lower cleanliness score because the oven baking trays and the shelves need a good clean. (This would be partly solved by a dishwasher :) ). The rest of the place was spotless - cant fault it. However overall this didnt ruin our stay and we will definitely be back. Thank you.

A super location. We were near to great walks for the dog as well as the town. A short drive took us to beautiful sandy beaches, all of which had sections where our dog could go. We found a number of dog friendly pubs as well! The cottage itself was more than comfortable enough for our stay and all the equipment we needed was there. Our beds were really comfortable and you couldn't hear a sound at night! The owner had provided an information pack on the appliances (which we certainly needed to use) as well as general information. A teething issue was quickly resolved by the owner. The enclosed garden is a real bonus for dog owners and is a lovely place to sit and relax. We would certainly visit Dot's Place again in the future.

    A very tired cottage

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Two very different reviews from guests a week apart, which goes to show how people can have very different expectations when booking. There’s not much to respond to in this comment but for the record, the property was re-decorated less than a year ago and the photos accurately represent how it currently looks. Dots is simple, comfortable accommodation and is professionally cleaned after each booking by a company that manages more holiday lets than any other in the region.

Posivites: ~ Well positioned ~ Quiet location ~ Kind, friendly next door neighbour (from the property on the left when looking from the road) called Danny. He brought tealight candles round to us to use during a powercut :) Negative points: ~No towels are provided. We've never had to take towels to a holiday rental before. We had to go out and buy some ~ Ridiculous showerhead - it is more like an aerosol spray, it takes ages to wash properly ~ The front bedroom needs blackout blind or thick lined curtain as the streetlight outside means room doesnt get dark ~ we found the central heating noisy ~ we thought the duvets were too small on the single beds - they would probably be ok for children but for adults it meant bits stick/poke out and get cold.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Firstly we'd like to thank everyone for your comments over the last year. We have been listening and have acquired some new items of furniture, including a new comfy blue sofa, along with extra utensils, cutlery and crockery. Having just returned from Dot's we can now address the specific points in this review. No towels are provided- this is correct, however assure us that this is clearly stated in their booking confirmation. As a 3 star property we feel that towels are a simple item to pack and this helps keep the rental price down. All items that are included are listed in the "Amenities" section at the end of the property description. Shower head- we bought one of these shower heads at the Ideal Home Exhibition for our own home and liked it so much that we ordered another one for Dots. It has around 200 very fine nozzles and produces the same amount of water as the original one provided with the Triton shower. We'll leave that at the property and get it refitted on request if anyone has a strong objection. The front bedroom needs blackout blind or thick lined curtains... This refers to the room with single beds. The curtains are lined and there is a separate vertical blind behind them. A small amount of light get's through but you really can't see it with your eyes closed. What light there is would probably be comforting for children. Duvets were too small on the single beds- these are standard sized good quality duvets on standard sized single beds, as can be seen in the photos. Central heating noisy- there was some noise which improved once we'd bled the radiators. The property has a back boiler so you can hear it firing in the the lounge but this is no louder that any gas fire. We should add that none of the above issues have ever been raised before and we hope this response clarifies things.
