Cottage was not clean, mattress protector was stained and disgusting. Hoover was useless and everything was very tired n worn out. The photos are out of date. When we contacted owner he blamed cleaner n she blamed owner. Carpets covered with animal hair n stank of wet dog when cleaner washed them.

Lovely fishermans cottage in cellardyke. We had a wonderful relaxing holiday, view from all windows are stunning. The heating was on when we arrived and it was very cosy. Hope to return in the future.

Best place in the world! Time stands still and peace is found ! My two girls and our dog love the cottage and where it is, right on the beach. Sea glass and pottery collecting commended immediately First night, fish and chips at the best chippy at the end of Anstruthers called the Wee Chippy ! Absolutely excellent. The cottage is warm and cosy Friendly feel in the place and just what you want for an outdoorsy relaxing beautiful holiday.

Great holiday at Dolphin Cottage. Location is second to none with the sea almost lapping at the back gate at high tide! Secure garden for our dog and Cellardyke harbour and grassy area leading to coastal path only a few minutes away for early morning dog walks. Great base for walking the Fife Coastal Path. Car parking can be a bit difficult but once we parked up we used the bus for the week to visit nearby villages and walked back to Cellardyke. Only ten minutes walk to Anstruther Harbour where there are plenty of cafes and fish & chip shops. There is a Co-op supermarket about a mile or so away. Lots of stairs in the cottage due to its hillside location but after a week our fitness levels had increased! Kitchen quite small but adequate. TV was also a bit on the small side but we got used to it. Poor phone reception and no wifi but that is made clear in the description of the cottage. Had a great week and will be looking to return next year.

Having holidayed in Fife in several cottages over the past few years, and although no longer residing in Fife I am aware of the attraction of the East Neuk. Dolphin Cottage is in an ideal position close to Cellardyke Harbour with access from the garden directly onto the rocky shoreline. The dog loved the cottage, being able to wander from lounge to garden when she wanted. The weather contributed to the feeling of the East Neuk as somewhere special. The major drawback with the cottage is that it really needs a great deal of TLC to give the "non-dogs" a better impression. Dog friendly it may be, but only after I removed some glass, plastic and a couple of small pieces of rusty barbed wire! Looking back through the Visitor book, there are some really superb reviews, but the last 2, if I had access to view before booking would have stopped me from completing the booking.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I am very sorry that your experience at Dolphin Cottage has fallen short of what you expected. We try very hard to maintain the cottage over the quiet winter months but as you have visited at a peak time, it is very difficult for us to carry out big tasks on changeover days. The sea glass and other items are brought up from the beach from previous visitors and are kept as small treasures, we leave things periodically on the patio for people to admire, I'm sorry if you found this dangerous for your pet. We have purchased new furniture and mattresses for a winter renovation project, which will make the seaside cottage more homely, we hope that you will revisit with your pet.

Lovely cottage, but smelt of dogs .I loved the location but would think twice about going to a venue again that allowed pets,so that was my fault ,but do think that you were charging too much in comparison to other cottages that had more amenities.
