Threlkeld is a small village just off the A66, which is the main route between Penrith and Keswick. Almost directly opposite is Keswick Golf Club, so if you fancy a round while you’re away, you could not be much closer. The quaint village of Scales, along with a couple of local pubs offering great food and local cask ales, is just a mile away. The lodge is just 5 miles from the vibrant Lake District town of Keswick, which is brimming with great restaurants, pubs serving local craft ales, an excellent range of shopping experiences and some memorable tourist attractions. If you fancy something a bit different, then why not visit The Derwent Pencil Museum, home to the world’s largest pencil. Also within easy reach is Puzzling Place, which is full of mind-boggling optical illusions. If you like culture, you could try the Theatre by the Lake, with its enviable position on the shores of Derwentwater, which offers award-winning performances in drama and arts.

If you like walking or cycling, you are surrounded by some of the most challenging fells in the area, as well as a number of less challenging walking routes suitable for people who like sightseeing without the strain. Keswick is at the northern end of Derwentwater, one of the area’s iconic lakes, and offers a great base and starting point for many an adventure. You can tick off a few of Wainwright’s 214 Lakeland Fells, including Skiddaw, Blencathra and Helvellyn within a few miles’ radius. Whatever the reason for your visit, Lucy’s Lodge offers a great base, inspiring surroundings and a touch of quirkiness to make your next Lake District getaway one to remember. Shop 4½ miles, pub ¾ mile and restaurant 1¼ miles.

Good Evening, I have just arrive to our stay in Lucy’s Lodge after driving 6 hours to get here and I’m honestly ready to drive home again. The lodge is a lot smaller than we originally thought but we know that’s an us issue more than the landlords issues but what we are most upset about is, when we couldn’t find our way and called the landlords for help, our calls went unanswered. Then when we do finally find our way with the help of some lovely locals, we find out half the shower doesn’t work, the hot tub doesn’t get hot (max 28degrees), and the heater doesn’t work downstairs, we tried to call the landlords again, our calls again went unanswered. We tried to message them, our messages went unanswered. There is no books with instructions on how these things work, we managed to Google to get the heating on but the “hot tub” is a no go. For just over £800/£900 I expected a lot more. Not to even bring in the actually decorator of the property, lights handing off, cracks up the walls and paint pealing, washing line hung up using cable ties and the fence not properly attached to the wall, not to even start for the naked electric wires in the shower. I’m very upset with this property for the price we paid. It seems we worked hard for our money to be wasted. After the whole issue with the first night (we didn’t hear back about our complain we posted above). We did stay the week but to be honest the owners really let the place down, we didn’t once speak to them as seems impossible to get through, the place was dirty and damaged and I would not recommended this place to anyone at the price we paid and I definitely won’t be going back to this place. The lakes are lovely though.

Would not recommend for older people due to steep stairs and low beams upstairs. Well worth it though.

We really enjoyed staying in Lucy's Lodge. The facilities (kitchen, shower and hot tub) were all modern and well looked after. The bed was comfy. The utensils we hoped would be in the kitchen were. A new outside table turned up half way through our stay. We would stay here again, but we feel it is worth pointing out the following to the owner perspective guests. 1. there is no hand soap provided (personally, we feel this should be). 2. more guidance on recycling - we were unaware whether we could and where we could put items that can be recycled e.g. glass bottles, tins, cardboard egg boxes. 3. Guests - the ceiling is sloped, so you do need to watch your head. Neither of us are particularly tall (5.6 & 5.9) but we bumped our head a couple of times. 4. Guests - it is ideally located to visit the Lake District National park but be aware that the lodge is adjacent to the A66 which is a fairly busy road with cars and lorries. The noise didn't stop us relaxing (especially when in the hot tub) and we didn't struggle to get to sleep with it. Other than those points, we really enjoyed our stay and we would definitely look at its availability when we return!
