This pretty terraced cottage built from locally sourced stone is one of just six properties on a working beef and sheep farm. This quiet part of the farm is dedicated to a handful of holiday cottages all in landscaped grounds and just perfect for a peaceful and memorable stay. Inside the cottage you’ll find everything you need including a well equipped kitchen with views to the rear garden and sheep in the fields beyond. On the ground floor you’ll also find an open plan living/dining room which makes a great social space for a family get together. Derwent Dale Cottage comfortably sleeps six guests in two double bedrooms and a twin room, each with plenty of storage for your belongings, making it ideal for larger families and couples. From the ground floor you can access the garden which has been newly renovated for 2018 and now features decking with patio furniture, artificial grass for a bit of year round colour, and the best bit, a relaxing hot tub so you can sooth those aches and pains after a long day of adventure. If you like the outdoors, you have direct access to Blencathra which can offer anything from a leisurely stroll to a quite challenging climb. Other Lakeland Fells in the area include Helvellyn, Skiddaw, Catbells and Latrigg, so pack your walking boots!
Doddick Farm Cottages are situated on the main route from Penrith to Keswick and are just off the A66 so you’re never too far from any of the local delights including two excellent pubs with local ales and great food. Keswick Golf Club, which is surrounded by amazing scenery, is just 1 mile away. You can reach Keswick in just 5 miles which boasts a number of fantastic restaurants, bars, pubs, shops, a very popular local market and a number of attractions. There are a variety attractions for children including Puzzling Place, a fun attraction based on optical illusions, or perhaps the Derwent Pencil Museum, where you can find the largest pencil in the world. Make sure to visit the Theatre by the Lake. Set on the shores of Derwentwater it offers award-winning drama and arts and with such a beautiful backdrop you can watch the sunset over the lake. If you want to try some water sports while you’re on holiday, you have Derwentwater just 7 miles away, Thirlmere within 8 miles and Bassenthwaite within 10 miles. Shop 4½ miles, pub ¾ mile and restaurant 1¼ miles.
Derwent Dale Cottage can also be booked with Harrison’s Lodge (UK1259), Lucy’s Lodge (UK1260), Grajo Cottage (UK1284), Darci’s Lodge (UK1297), Brackendale (UK1335), Shepherd’s Bield (UK1349), Doddick Chase Cottage (UK1363) and The Rocking Lodge (UK11517) to accommodate up to 30 guests.

Absolutely thrilled with this cottage. Beautifully positioned. Beautifully presented. Clean, tidy, properly ready for when we arrived. The hot-tub is a fantastic feature and, after a day of fell walking, very, very welcome. I can honestly say that the owners of this selection of cottages really, really know the value of delivering what the customer pays for. Would I stay there again? Hell yeah!!

The cottage is clean and comfortable and well equipped. The neighbours were friendly and little faults were dealt with immediately. Our only problem was the location. Access to the Fells behind the farm was difficult to find, and the road cut us off from other walks from the door. We had to use the car much more than we usually do.

What a Fantastic Find on the Webb, This cottage is Home from Home, including EXTRA'S, after a full Days walking, Site seeing, and Dining out, back to the cottage, and into the Hot Tub, to soak and to re-energize for the next day. The owners of the working Farm, have done them selves proud, they have got on site everything the Family Holiday requires, this coming from an O A P couple who had a fantastic Holiday, we will be returning here, that's how much we enjoyed our stay. Many Many Thanks.

Had a two night stay in this cottage, the hot tub was an absolute boom after a full days walking on the fells. The cottage was very comfortable and kitted out to a high quality. Even though the A66 was only a few yards away you could not hear it at all once in the cottage. Great location, great accommodation and we even got great weather.

A beautiful cottage, immaculately clean in a fantastic position. A great pub less than 10minute walk away or 2 minutes in the car. The cottage is well equipped and delivered well above our expectations and the hot tub is a bonus. It’s location is easy to find on the A66 and is in a great place to explore the Lake District. We will definitely return to this cottage.

This is the first uk holiday I have had as an adult and I didn’t think I would enjoy it..... I LOVED IT! The cottage it’s self was very very clean and nicely decorated. It had lovely views over fields and hills at the back with horses. The description says that it’s on a working farm so I was dubious about noise but nope, didn’t hear a thing as there is a good distance between the cottages and the farm area. The area is so beautiful. When driving all we saw was hills and fields. This cottage is the perfect distance to the local town (5mins drive) which has many different shops, cafes etc. We made a stop in a very nice sweet cafe and had pancakes which were very good! We went in January and thank god it snowed!! I have never seen such beautiful sights in my whole life I was gutted to leave. The only thing that I will say is a lot of places are shut in January but I was happy about this as it meant there wasn’t a lot of tourists about. My partner and I took my dog along and to my surprise the local towns were really dog friendly. We went on a boat trip, in shops and in cafes and he was allowed in. He loved the walks probably more than we did and there was a lot of different walks to choose from, we ended up just driving around and finding different ones which was fun. What was even more fun was after a hard day we knew we were going back to a HOT HOT HOT HOT TUB :) Make sure you take plenty of wine because when you are sat in the hot tub soaking your muscles it goes down very well. All in all I really can not wait to book this cottage again for a perfect get away! Thanks to the manager and staff for the perfect little holiday! X

An excellent place to put up the feet following a hard day's hike into the hills, (or retail therepy in Keswick), but even better is to come back to a pipping hot, hot tub, - FAB. A very well kept and very clean cottage, one of 5 rentables on the farm and only 5 miles from Keswick, with the rest of the Lake District withing easy reach. I particularly liked the little touches like the tea, coffee and mini shortcake biscuit welcome basket, the soft throws in lounge and free WiFi. I would definitely recommend to anyone, including families with young children as there is a neat play area and picnic benches. ?
