After looking for somewhere to stay whilst working away, and spending lots of time in hotels. I noticed Dock Road whilst searching and was surprised to see the price was around the same as hotels near by. Being Vegan I always struggle to find hotels that can provide me with food I can eat, so being able to cook my own food was a massive plus. The kitchen was well equipped for cooked although some of the utensils needed cleaning before use. The cottage was very spacious and the bedrooms and bathroom very clean. The living space could have been cleaner as lots of crumbs and old food on the carpets and under the sofas. Very close to a local Asda and other shops, so nipping out to pick up anything was easy. Overall I had a very good experience at Dock Road. The minor cleanliness issue twinned with the heating not being on for my arrival which left the house very cold for the first night, are the only issues I have. I would definitely stay here again.

Good location for local amenities and access to coastal walks/cycling but somewhat noisy at times eg very early mornings due to docks being across the road. However, the cottage was very comfortable and great value for money and the person to contact very helpful and friendly. A nice friendly town to stay in with historic interest.

Dock cottage is in a great location, it's very spaciouse, spotlessly clean but the beds were very uncomfortable and so were the sofas, it's opposite the dock so very noisy from lorries starting at 5.30 am, would benefit from a downstairs toilet as one of the bedrooms is downstairs.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We were very disappointed to read this review - these guests have been very regular visitors. I have slept in all of the upstairs beds in different weeks during the summer and got a better more comfortable night’s sleep than I do at home! Both beds in the downstairs bedroom are fine for adults or children and very comfy. We are intending to replace the sofas soon - the springs have not gone. The sofas are quite low to the ground and our elderly relatives have pointed this out to us in the past. We have always made a point of asking whether there is anything that we could do to improve the standard of accommodation and we really appreciate the feedback we receive from our guests. The vast majority of our guests rate the location of the Cottage very highly, describing it as ‘excellent’ and ‘super’. The property is situated near a commercial dock with limited shipping movement therefore it is expected that there would be some associated noise, but the convenience of being situated on street, in town and near to shops with a sea view is surely compensation for this. The visitor’s book and other reviews suggest that most guests are extremely happy with their experience at Dock Cottage and appreciate the efforts we make to ensure this is the case.

As our scores tell we could find nothing wrong with the cottage and felt the photos on the website didn't do it justice. On arriving we had mixed feelings due to some extent the area but WOW when we opened the front door these all disappeared and the location was excellent for all we wanted to do both walking and using the car. We will certainly book again if we visit the area another year.
