The site is excellent, a converted mill near Malham. There is a short flat path into the village where there are two good pubs, and good walking from the Mill. The accommodation is a sitting space/kitchen, a well appointed bathroom with a bath and shower, and a double bedroom. The access to the flat is two steep flights of stairs, not mentioned in the details. First impressions count, and here it is uncared for. There was no welcome pack with information about the area, or details about how to use the fire or central heating. There was a hatch potch of cutlery, instruments, and glasses, and no beer glasses. There were no bags for rubbish, even though we were asked to take it away. The bathroom was clean, but there were two empty shower gel and shampoo bottles. You shouldn't have to throw away your predecessors rubbish. The bed frame wobbled, and the floor was dirty, with lumps of fluff under the bed and stuck to the chest, and the bottom of one of the curtains was held up with pins. The visitors book contained many similar comments, which seemed to start about 18 months ago.

Holiday accommodation was in an excellent location to access many beautiful walks and pubs but the property was poorly maintained. Electrical appliances and central heating boiler had not been safety checked for 18 months! The toilet seat was broken, bulbs were missing from the lamps and the electrical socket for the microwave was faulty. Although bedding and towels were clean the overall cleanliness and comfort of the accommodation was poor. Apparently the property is on the market and we were disturbed on our first day as the estate agent had a viewing, we were not informed of the visit and it should have been arranged when the property was unoccupied.

The cottage would have been good value had everything worked. The shower tray would not empty, consequently by the time the hot came through it was overflowing. The toilet seat and lid would not stay up, needing extreme ingenuity to use. Bedroom curtains still had pins in the hem at the bottom which was on the floor. constituting danger to bare or stockinged feet. These complaints had been reported back in May via the visitor remarks book.

A cracking little apartment, more than adequate for a week walking around the Yorkshire Dales, especially around Malham.
