Very basic but comfortable cottage with the most fabulous views and surroundings. The only thing that was missing were bedside lamps and a lamp in the living room. It was great for what it was and good value for money, would've rated higher overall if it was a more modern/luxurious cottage, but saying that the basic-ness of the cottage was fine for our needs and of course it would've been more expensive if it were anything else. We all loved the animals and the fact that there was a ruin of a castle in the 'garden'! It was lovely to have provisions on arriving, such a kind and much appreciated gesture. Would go again.

What a wonderful break we had. It's very peaceful and away from it all. We were welcomed by friendly owners Lynn and Andy and there animals including a llama, alpacas and donkey. We were left lots of welcome goodies and the cottage was spotless. A great tonic we will return.

I booked this cottage so that my 11 year old son, myself and the dog could get away from the stresses and strains of a hectic day to day life and it was perfect. Waking up to spectacular views (including the castle ruins!) was amazing and watching the comings and goings on the farm was lovely! The owners were welcoming and friendly - and easy to approach if we needed anything. The cottage was really well equipped, clean and cosy - especially with the open fire. Would love to have spent longer here but will definitely book again.

Second time at this cottage, must have enjoyed it the first time. An ideal location if you like your own company without many neighbours. Loads to see and do but make sure you have everything as the nearest shop is miles away, although the welcome pack was very good. Will no doubt go back again.

lovely cottage however very remote and the write up on the website does not detail how remote. Could not even relax on an evening as only big light in room - a lamp would have been nice, also new sofa/chairs required. If could have been closer to amenities would have been ideal.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We want all our customers to enjoy their stay, and are sorry this customer chose to leave after only one full day. However, it was clear they required an urban environment. To answer some of the points made, firstly the website does state that we are off the beaten track and the photos reinforce this. I am afraid that there will never be the same facilities in a rural area as a town. There are still many things to see and do here - but no equivalent of the Newcastle Metro centre down the road. If anyone has any queries before booking we are always pleased to answer them, and, of course, much information can be found via an internet search. Secondly, we always make it clear to our guests on arrival that we are ready to help if there is anything they need. If the guest had let us know that they required a lamp, they would have been given one immediately. I am sorry the furniture was not to their taste. Lastly I agree that given the very short time they stayed, this holiday would not have provided value for money.
