Overlooking ancient woodland filled with owls, deer and badgers, this beautiful cottage is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts.

Located down a private lane, this well thought out cottage, adjoining the owner’s home, overlooks private ancient woodland which guests are free to explore. Keep a look out for owls, deer and badgers, who have made it their home. This delightful holiday property is ideally situated for visiting National Trust Sheffield Park and Gardens, formed through centuries of landscape design with influences of Capability Brown and Humphrey Repton. The parkland was once a deer park and WWII camp, but is now grazed with livestock.
For fans of steam trains, take a trip on the Bluebell Railway which runs between Sheffield Park and East Grinstead. Enjoy fine dining on the Golden Arrow Pullman recreating the glamorous atmosphere on one of the most famous trains in the world, that once linked London to Paris. Take a trip to Lewes and visit the castle which towers above the medieval streets below. Bring your glad rags, pack up a picnic and head for Glyndbourne, and be spellbound by world-class opera whilst surrounded by the beautiful South Downs.
Golf courses and horse racing are close by, and carp fishing is available at Framfield Fisheries (at cost). Uckfield station is within easy reach, with links to London Bridge where more sightseeing opportunities are available. Buses also pass the end of the lane and will take you to Eastbourne, Brighton and Royal Tunbridge Wells. There is a leisure centre and cinema just half a mile away. Beach 21 miles. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

Owners very helpful and friendly. Only slight niggle was that there was no mirror downstairs, and louvered bedroom door rattled at night when window open, but very pleased otherwise.

We had a good holiday here. It is out of the way a bit and you would have to drive or take the bus if you needed shopping but the local pub was better inside than it appeared from the outside. We found this a good location for exploring Sussex and would happily go back as a base for exploring the many parts of East Sussex we didn’t get to this time. The house is very well equipped, well. Suited to a couple, especially if you plan to be out and about much of the time.
