Excellently presented cottage in a great location close to all amenities in nearby Hawes. A very welcoming arrival pack of milk, bread, cheese and eggs and a very high standard of decor, furnishings and cleanliness. Strongly recommended to anyone wishing to get away from it all but still have an excellent pub within a mile! Would obviously re-visit

Great Location for walking in the dales. Pleasant cottage to return to after a day out in a small quiet village near Hawes

The cottage does not have a shower. The main bedroom only has a 4feet 6 double bed - far too narrow. Sitting room furniture is not very comfortable and a bit shabby. There is no contained garden or yard so no good for children - or our dog. Especially so close to tje main road. Towels need replacing.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. We are sorry you found faults with the cottage and only rated it 5 out of 10. Dales Cottage is a traditional Yorkshire Dales cottage providing a host of comforts for our guests to enjoy, such as real wood beams and a large log burner. The bathroom is in the section of the cottage which has a sloping ceiling; therefore we are unable to fit a full height shower. There is a shower attachment for guests to use, and this is clearly explained in the description provided when booking. Many walkers also prefer a bath after a full day exploring the beautiful countryside. We pride ourselves on providing extremely comfortable mattresses in the cottage - we understand that a poor night’s sleep can spoil your holiday. We always have excellent feedback about the comfort of the beds and it also clearly states in the description, that the main bed is a double. The outside space is not enclosed and is not advertised as being so. There is a small patio area at the rear of the cottage which backs onto a quiet area where most children can play safely. There is also plenty of beautiful countryside accessible from the doorstep, including a river to paddle and dip in. The cottage is well away from the reasonably quiet road that comes through the village. Finally, the sofas are quite a recent addition to the cottage. We feel they are clean, tasteful and comfortable. We will double check our supply of towels. We are very concerned that you found the cottage disappointing and should you have contacted us during your stay, we would have been happy to discuss or rectify any issues. The cottage has an official 3 star rating and exceeds this in most areas when inspected annually. Most guests are pleasantly surprised by the great space, quality, comfort and fabulous location of the cottage.
