Perfectly placed for exploring the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean, or enjoy a day at the races at Chepstow or Cheltenham.

Cwningfan is a renovated, well-equipped detached bungalow located next to the owners’ home. It has been finished to a very good standard and offers stylish accommodation in a beautiful, rural location, opposite a world renowned vineyard. The cottage is ideally situated less than a mile from the bustling centre of historic Monmouth which has thriving, independent shops, a cinema, theatre, museums and a leisure centre with indoor swimming pool. It is well placed for walking and exploring in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, including the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean and Brecon Beacons. The cottage is close to Offa’s Dyke footpath and Three Castles walks. Cycling is also very popular in the area, with tracks to suit all abilities.

Other sporting opportunities include fishing and golf. Salmon and trout fishing are available on the Rivers Wye and Usk, supplemented with coarse fishing on local lakes. The idyllic rolling countryside hosts many golf courses, including the world class Ryder Cup Celtic Manor in Newport, the Rolls of Monmouth and St Pierre in Chepstow. Finally, there are racecourses at Cheltenham and Chepstow.

There are numerous family attractions within a short drive such as the Hedge Maze, Butterfly Farm and crazy golf near Ross-on-Wye, river cruises and canoeing at Symonds Yat, as well as Perrygrove Steam Railway, Puzzlewood and Go Ape in the Forest of Dean.

The area is also steeped in history. Cwningfan provides easy access to Raglan, Abergavenny and Chepstow Castles. Tintern Abbey, the Mappa Mundi Centre at Hereford Cathedral and extensive Roman ruins in Caerleon are also nearby.

This smartly restored property offers a picturesque, tranquil location which is close to award-winning restaurants, yet less than an hour away from Cardiff, Bristol, Cheltenham and Gloucester. A lovely cottage in a great location, so much to do locally - Puzzlewood, the steam railway, Clearwell Caves. We popped to Barry Island one day to sit on the beach too. Would highly recommend this accommodation.
