Choosing places to stay is about location, location, location and with sea views, private sandy beaches, spectacular scenery and prolific wildlife, these dog-friendly, detached, seaside holiday cottages are the perfect choice.
Lapwing Lodge (ref 31266), is named after the lapwings or ’peewits’ as they are known locally, that nest in the fields around the chalets.
Skylark Lodge (ref 31267) is named after the larks that sing in the fields in front. It enjoys sea views as well as mountain views.
Curlew Lodge (ref 31268) is named after the curlews that frequent the foreshore and the field in front of the chalets from autumn to early spring. Curlew Lodge was the first chalet on site and has a slightly different layout internally to the others. It is also slightly set apart from the other two lodges with an orchard of fruit trees around it.
The properties are situated on the Arbigland Estate, and the ancient Barony of Arbigland comprises farmland, woodland and foreshore on the Solway Firth coast, bounded by the River Nith near Dumfries in the south west of Scotland. With its outstanding natural beauty and rich diversity of wildlife, the estate forms part of the Nith Estuary Special Area of Conservation and the Upper Solway Special Site of Scientific Interest.
Golf, fishing, 7stanes mountain biking, horse riding, bird watching, shooting (including wildfowling), stalking and hill walking can all be enjoyed locally. The properties are decorated with a Christmas theme during the festive season. Beach 100 yards. Shop 2 miles, pub 1 mile and restaurant 6 miles.
