Crown cottage is set in a fantastic rural and stunning location. Close to the village of Dunster and town Minehead so no problem getting supplies or finding a good pub. It is also great for exploring the moor and has a wonderful garden. The bedrooms were all redecorated and pleasant. The owner was kind enough to set up a travel cot for us. The dining room was nice as was the lounge. I was fairly displeased with the bathroom as the shower barely works, the head is either blocked with limescale or needs replacing. All around the shower itself was dirty, the shower curtain needs replacing as it has pink mould on it. The taps in the sink were also green underneath the plastic and in need of replacing and they were also dirty around the sink. The kitchen is also a little dire. Badly stocked with little storage. The cooker knobs were grimy around the edges with grease and dried on food from previous visits. The cutlery tray had a good amount of dirt from cupboard underneath it as I discovered when trying to get some cutlery one evening. The hoover under the stairs had no suction apart from the hose and as it a quite ancient Dyson was pretty hard to lug around and I like to keep our space as clean as possible as I have young children. I have stayed self catering for many years and it is the first time that I have ever bothered not to hoover before leaving the premises. I was a little underwhelmed and disappointed. We ended up leaving a day early, the weather was bad but we found no real home comforts or reason to want to stay in at crown cottage as we have with other properties and this is such a shame. Unfortunately to say that we will not visit again. We fell in love with Exmoor but not with crown cottage.

We love Crown cottage and have been many times.. We did find it a bit careworn this time.. But we know that Jenny and Alan have booked it free for 10 weeks so they can work on it.. We love the tranquillity and even though one neighbour has moved we still have our friend next door. The garden is perfect for our pups and they loved the beach at Dunster.. We took them to Minehead and was shocked at winter prices to park and walk them.. So we just went once. We loved Watchet everyone so friendly and the doggies were welcome in most shops.. Back to the cottage as usual we found it clean and comfortable..well equipped and everything explained.. We had to put some recycling out in a bag as one of the boxes was missing but the guys took it anyways. We have already booked for three more relaxing weeks much later this year

We enjoyed a lovely week at this cottage - although the cottage was very basic and we have had to give a lower rating due to this, the beds were very comfortable, and the linen was of excellent quality and pristine white - so too were the towels provided. Where it fell down was the kitchen, which needed some updating to provide extra storage space etc and more mugs would have been useful - other areas - a clothes airer and a coat hook rail. due to its location away from any local shops, a welcome pack would have been greatly appreciated upon our arrival at the cottage, and perhaps this will become available in future. The location is superb, a large garden - ideal for dogs and children and the panoramic views all around were splendid - so too were nearby places to visit Dunster Somerset Railway Lynton & Lynmouth and the beautiful village of Porlock - do not miss visiting Porlock weir, easy reasonable parking - a mixed array of small shops and a pebble beach and small harbour - good food at the Ship Inn Minehead approx 6 miles away with beaches and lots of shops for provisions or other - however for most of our holiday, we preferred the peace and quiet of prettier, more tranquil places. We would stay here again without hesitation and found it good value for money which we could then enjoy spending elsewhere.

This is a lovely cottage with stunning views front and back. The décor was getting a bit out of date, and wallpaper peeling (only very slightly) from the ceiling in the lounge. the shower was a bit hard to manage. Overall we spent a great week in this cottage and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.
