Crook Farm (UK39674), Crook Barn (UK39673) and The Nook (UK39672) are nestled in the beautiful Cumbrian countryside on the world-famous Hadrian’s wall path and close to the World Heritage Site of Birdoswald Roman Fort. The properties have all been lovingly restored by the owners, and Crook Farm is brimming with traditional charm from its thick stone walls to its huge oak beams, wood burner and large farmhouse kitchen. The gardens are just as charming and the perfect place to relax with the added luxury of your very own hot tub. Crook Barn is believed to have been constructed using reclaimed stones from Hadrians Wall which adds to the overall charm of this large, bright, and spacious barn conversion. The upside-down layout is stunning, a particular feature of this lovely barn is the beautifully decorated forty-foot open plan living/dining/kitchen area on the first floor whilst on the ground floor are three good sized bedrooms and family bathroom. Again, to add to the luxury of your stay is your own hot tub set in a private courtyard where you can either choose just to luxuriate in the hot tub or enjoy a meal al fresco. The Nook is tucked away in the old hay store with its own private entrance and separate driveway. The Nook is situated in what was originally the winter hay store and has been converted using reclaimed materials from around the farm. This quirky little bolt hole has a comfortable living room with mezzanine floor area above with double bed. The Nook is perfect for a couple wanting a romantic break away where you can enjoy the seclusion of the cottage and the private hot tub. The Nook can accommodate two small children in small single beds if you want to make a family holiday.
Crook Farm dates back to 1644 and sits in an idyllic spot steeped with history. Initially built as a fortified bastile house, offering sanctuary to travelling herdsmen, the original layout and entrances of the building can still be seen, being converted into a house sometime during the 18th century. Whilst tranquilly situated in a beautiful location, the properties are ideally placed for exploring the wider area from the Lake District National Park, the Northumberland National Park and just over the border into Scotland. Of course, you are in the heart of Hadrian’s Wall country where you can walk parts of the wall and visit the Roman forts along the way. Many other attractions are within a short drive, including Lanercost Priory, a well-preserved medieval monastic site. You can spend a day exploring Talkin Tarn Country Park with its 65-acre lake and acres of farmland and woodland.
