Spacious Lakeland accommodation, it has a large garden and wooded grounds that extend to over an acre, where wildlife is encouraged. Coniston, 2½ miles, for fishing and tennis. Ulverston, 12 miles, a market town which is also famous as the birthplace of Stan Laurel, whose life is celebrated at the Laurel and Hardy Museum. Other attractions include the Heritage Centre, glass factory and Hoad Monument, built on top of a hill and offering fine views of the bay and hills. Beach at Grange-over-Sands, 20 miles. Lovely house in fantastic position and we had a great week. The downside was that the property is in need of some major TLC. The windows need serious attention etc. Although not a criticism, my elderly mother in law ended up in A&E on Sunday evening after falling trying to get up from the rocking chair in the kitchen and we all felt it was perhaps a but out of place and cumbersome. I really do not want to criticise the house but a lot of reviews reiterate what we thought and it wouldn't take a lot to update and freshen up.

The house was Lovely -clean and warm with a lovely aga and lots of character. However a couple of things didn't work e.g. bedside lamps and the shower. There wasn't a sheet or mattress cover for the sofa bed and we didn't get one for 2 days. The decor could do with updating as there was lots of peeling wallpaper. Some of the beds were uncomfortable. There was a lack of cleaning product so we were unable to clean before departure. On the whole though a lovely week.

The house was not clean On arrival all plates and cutlery had to be put through the dishwasher, one of the bedrooms has a black mould stain and the wallpaper was hanging down, we couldn’t sleep in that room The house needs some care and a good clean

This was a warm and comfortable accomodation on the whole. The owners were very responsive when we contacted them over one or two queries. Location good for our party
