Description

With its multi-fuel burner and four-poster bed, this romantic retreat for two is close to the Duddon Valley.

A beautiful adjoining barn conversion, Crimson Cottage exudes a romantic feel, with lovely furnishings, a large open-spaced living room with high beams and multi-fuel burner, a beautifully fitted kitchen, a pretty mezzanine double bedroom as well as a Jacuzzi bathroom, making this a perfect hideaway for couples. The holiday property lies within the grounds of Wreaks End Farm, where there are other charming holiday cottages (refs 23376 and UK10075), just 1 mile from the market town of Broughton-in-Furness, with its cobbled square, shops, pubs, café and restaurants. You are right on the doorstep of the Duddon Valley, which is a ‘jewel in the crown’ of Cumbria, situated between Coniston and Eskdale: remote, unspoilt and perhaps the most idyllic corner of the Lake District. The Duddon Valley will delight walkers, mountain bikers, climbers, nature lovers and those who enjoy the peace and beauty of the countryside. The tiny villages of Ulpha and Seathwaite are two focal points of the valley. At Ulpha there is a post office/village shop, while Seathwaite, situated near the end of the ancient Walna Scar road, boasts a 16th-century inn, where good home-cooked food, real ales and a warm welcome await, all day all year. The property is the perfect base from which to explore this part of the Western Lakes, while Windermere, Bowness and many other attractions in the Lake District National Park are all within easy driving distance. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Wonderful decor. On very busy road.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; The road can get busy at times however; it is classed as a B road. I am sorry you found it busy during your stay with us - thanks Loretta.

Claims to be pet friendly but no enclosed space for dog unlike property next door. Property on main road which is busy

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. The courtyard is now enclosed - the description of the property has been updated and the photographs now show the enclosed outside area. The safety of our four legged friends is very important to us. The enclosed outside space is a relatively new addition to the Cottage and was not available at the time you made your booking. We hope that one day you will come back to see for yourself the improvements we have made.

We stayed for a short lakes break. The cottage was lovely and quaint, a good snap up giving that we booked it last minute. The cottage was equipped with all we needed but we could have used some instructions for a couple of things. We also found that the kitchen had not been deep cleaned and found someone else’s food pieces in the oven and on the grill. We assumed that the owner/cleaner just forgot to check the oven. Other than that, no issues at all. The owner was friendly and checked that we had arrived safe. We loved the large jacuzzi bath. It was well used! We will for sure be back and will recommend it to others.

Lovely little cottage, would definitely stay here again. Loved the chess set & the fact there were some games for the evening.
