Description

Standing alone in spectacular countryside, just perfect for a truly relaxing break, yet within easy reach to entertainment.

Situated in a peaceful, remote location within the Galloway Forest Park and surrounded by rolling hills, this detached holiday cottage offers a truly relaxing break. Walking and cycling is available directly from the property. Glentrool, one of the 7 Stanes, with its many marked trails is close by and offers walking and cycling for all abilities, and access to the Merrick, South West Scotland’s highest mountain, offers more demanding walking. Dumfries and Galloway with its many sandy beaches, rocky coves and picturesque villages are nearby, and the area provides ample opportunity to relax in the wealth of scenic and historic attractions. With its famously mild climate and the balmy influence of the Gulf Stream, Galloway is home to some of the most beautiful and exotic gardens. Ayrshire with easy access to Culzean Castle and Country Park, a favourite with visitors, is a 30 minute drive away. South West Scotland has a wealth of golf courses. Turnberry, Brunston Castle and Girvan are all within easy reach. The Ayrshire Coast and Burns Country provide enjoyable days out.

We love Craigenrae but it is now very tired and would love to go back when it is upgraded and refurbished. The setting and area is truly wonderful and we enjoyed our holiday. It needs more toilets and bathing facilities with a full refurbishment of the living/ kitchen area. We would be more than happy to pay much more than current tariffs if this was done to return

The cottage was described perfectly, it was warm, totally clean, and we wanted for nothing. Our holiday was also perfect, incredible walking, and wonderful isolation.

Wonderful part of the world. We had stayed there before ( in 2010) so we knew what to expect. But with a borehole for water and automatic generator it was better than ever. We knew that there were no very local amenities, but local pub/restaurant ( only about 9 miles away!) was very good.
