On arrival after 300 miles, we had to drive out to the shop 4 mile away, to buy milk for a cuppa. All other places we have stayed at, left us a small milk as a welcome. The vacuum cleaner was full to the point it was detrimental to the machine. Pub does not open every day for lunch. The kitchen AREA is small as is the cooker. We try not to cook on holiday so no real problem to us. The notice of bin collection days was in the cupboard out of sight. With not always warm days & not particularly cold nights, the comfort was much better than basic. A bottles bin is there (Full) but no note of where to take YOUR bottles? PARKING is fraught with danger. Some cars/M bikes came around the bend at speed. Not enough room to park on the verge at the corner and with little room to spare, backing in through the gates took time to get used to. Not so bad in good visibility, yet a car or bike bearing down on you, does not help much. Apart from this particular point, we enjoyed the stay immensely.

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are delighted to hear you enjoyed the cottage immensely and thank you so much for your great score. We are sorry if you found the drive troublesome to use. It isn’t unusual for us to see four cars parked at our cottage, two on the drive and two on the gravel area outside the gates. The bottle bank is emptied regularly and we are sorry you found it to be filled on this occasion. Thank you again for your custom and we hope to see you again sometime.

A unique cottage, being a cricket pavilion transplanted from the Northumbrian coast, hence the lack of a flat field in front, rather a spectacular valley view. Although we were warned, the steps from the road to the front door came as a surprise so if you are elderly or infirm this is a serious consideration. The local amenities are basically non existent within a couple of miles, but Bellingham only 3 miles away has every kind of shop necessary to provide everything you will need

Peaceful location and allowed us to reconnect as a family. Cottage has everything you could want. Great location, we visited Kielder twice, Jedburgh, Cragside, Housteads, Hexham and Bellingham. Loved our neighbours (the sheep). No phone signal was not an issue as there is WiFi in the property. Lots of little extras in the cottage to make it possible to relax from the start. Would highly recommend to any family wanting to relax, reconnect and explore.

The cottage was very nice but their are a few things I would like to say, first it would be handy to have a handrail to the steps outside because if you are disabled or aged it is a trial to get up or down, next it might be an idea to mention that there are 3 steps in the property although small if you are not expecting them its a bit of a shock.
