Description

Wonderful lodge amidst stunning countryside with wonderful walks from the door, and Offas Dyke nearby.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with wooden floor. 1 double bedroom. Shower room with toilet.

Electric heaters, gas, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Travel cot. High chair. Freesat TV. DVD. Gas hob. Electric halogen heater oven. Doggy extras. Shared use of owners’ washing machine and tumble dryer. Enclosed sitting-out area with garden furniture. Ample parking. No smoking.

These two lodges are located in the tranquil village of Felindre, amidst the stunning countryside that Mid-Wales boasts. Both are ground floor lodges and offer a great holiday base from which to explore this beautiful area. A haven for walkers with wonderful walks direct from the doorstep, as well as Offas Dyke, Britain’s longest archaeological monument, built in the 8th century to mark the boundary between Wales and England, and Glyndwe’s Way, a national trail, running through Mid-Wales, from Knighton on the English border to Machynlleth on the Dovey Estuary, and then on to Welshpool on the English border. Activities such as cycling, fishing and golfing can all be found in the surrounding areas. A fabulous location for bird watchers with many Red Kite feeding centres to be found. Within easy driving distance of both the charming market town of Newtown and Knighton with its many individual shops. Crabtrees (ref. W42483) and Fairoaks (ref. W42484) can be booked together.

If you are looking for a bit more comfort than camping, but don't want the lack of independence of a B&B or hotel, and still want some rustic charm, then this accommodation could be for you. There are 2 sweet little timber framed chalets, identical inside and next to each other. You have all the basic amenities you could require, although there is no actual oven, only a small counter top halogen oven, no freezer, and the heating is calor gas. The owners are highly into eco / waste reduction / recycling, and have the appropriate necessary means for garbage disposal. The double bed is extremely comfortable, and we were appreciative of the electric blanket needed throughout our week's stay mid April 2019. However, being right against the wall, it was a little awkward trying to get out from that side during the night. The calor gas heater did a good job of warming up the cabin, although, being as cold as it was, it was necessary to rise early from bed to light it and direct it towards the bathroom. There are plenty of windows allowing beautiful views from 3 sides of the cabin, and chairs outside for you to relax in on your separate patio in the large garden, with the sounds of sheep and birds to accompany your relaxation. Bed linen, towels, tea towels, toilet and shower were all very clean. Gas, electric, heating, wi-fi (pretty decent coverage too) are all included in the price. Mobile phone reception is unlikely to be available, but the whole point of coming somewhere like this is to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and it hits the nail on the head completely in this respect. In order to get to the nearest large town of Newtown, you travel along some very winding roads, up and down the hills, past farms, across open heathland with spectacular scenery. The location is ideal for access across all of mid-Wales. Peter and Marion are eager to accommodate their guests and enjoy a chat and imparting information about the wonderful places to visit in the area. Excellent value for money.
