Description

The house, built centuries ago to protect a shepherd and his sheep, is situated on the medieval ramparts with a magnificent panoramic view, extending to the Mediterranean coast.

This house or bergerie, which was built before the 12th century to protect a shepherd and his sheep, is situated on medieval ramparts of Cornillon-Confoux, and has magnificent panoramic views over Provence and beyond to the Mediterranean coast from its own balcony. Owned and loved for over 40 years, the bergerie has been completely renovated and decorated with a mix of comfortable furniture, antiques, and contemporary conveniences. The house is close to Salon-de-Provence (13km), Miramas (9km) and Saint-Chamas (7km), and is not far from Aix-en-Provence (40km), Martigues (29km), Arles (48km) and Marseille (50km). On the ground floor is the lounge, dining area and the kitchen. There is a wood-burning fireplace. The stairs lead up to the master bedroom, front sitting room/bedroom with balcony, and the shower room. There is an attached locked garage. The house is perfect for two people, but it can sleep up to three adults and one child. For nature lovers, there are some superb walks on the doorstep either on foot or by bike. Shop, café/bar and restaurant 200m, supermarket 10km.

Approximate distance to Marseille airport is 37 km.

Ground floor: Lounge/kitchen/diner. First floor: Second lounge, shower room with toilet and basin, 1 double bedroom, futon in second lounge.

Electric heating, woodburner in lounge, cot, highchair, satellite TV, DVD player, CD player, wi-fi, dishwasher, freezer, microwave, balcony, garage for 1 car. Sorry, no pets. No smoking please.

Response on behalf of the owner; We thank this guest for his feedback. Being totally committed to ensuring that all our guests have a perfect holiday, we were disappointed to discover that his experience to not live up to his expectations. Honestly from the feedback from the all the past delighted guests, this a first for us. We will, of course take his comments very seriously and ensure that we do everything we can to make sure that all future guests have the same great time as those in the past. We endeavour to meet every guest on arrival and check with them after a couple of days. We then check before they leave and, when possible, meet with them to see them off and hear about their holiday. In this case everything was fine when we checked in and so their departure and comments on the web site were a big surprise. We always ask that all guests should not hesitate to call us with any questions, ideas or needs and ensure a (free) telephone and number is available in the Bergerie. All this said we will continue to work at making this super little house even better every year.

We spent 5 wonderful days in La Bergerie--not sure what to expect but this was a wonderful place to base ourselves in Provence. We travelled from here to Avignon and other wonderful places. Definitely need a car-as the closest supplies are a bit of a trek. Local cafe cute but good to take your own coffee. The views are incredible. Only small complaint was the hardness of the bed--but would even put up with that again for this delightful cottage.
