Couples can enjoy the adjacent country park with its wealth of wildlife whilst staying at this cosy retreat.

On-site facilities including swimming pool

On-site facilities including swimming pool

These beautiful cottages have been tastefully renovated from a traditional Welsh barn and are set in the heart of Pembrokeshire alongside the Llys-y-Fran Country Park and reservoir. There are plenty of facilities available for guests free of charge, including croquet and badminton, a heated covered swimming pool, all-weather tennis court and a children’s play garden. You can also enjoy the country park which is less than a minute’s walk and has a 200-acre reservoir and an impressive 100ft dam, the largest game fishing in west Wales. This is a beautiful woodland setting with a delightful nature trail for both walkers and cyclists, and an 8-mile perimeter trail providing fine views and a variety of wildlife including badgers, foxes and otters. The broadleaf woodland provides a breeding site for sparrowhawk, buzzard and woodpecker, whilst the lake attracts uncommon water bird species such as little gull and black tern. Set in the heart of Pembrokeshire, giving access to beaches, national park, the historic Preseli Mountains and the worlds famous Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and Coastal Path. Within a short drive is Oakwood Theme Park. A holiday in Pembrokeshire would not be complete without a visit to the picturesque harbour and the golden beaches at Tenby or the busy resort of Saundersfoot, a complete contrast from the more secluded parts perhaps, but always popular with children. Also within a short drive are Manor House Wildlife Park, Caldey Island, with its cistercian monastery and countless historic castles such as Carew, and Pembroke. It is an ideal location for a perfect family holiday as a getaway or for trying some of the outdoor pursuits and entertainment. Pembrokeshire is famous for its excellent restaurants and pubs. In the immediate vicinity there is the country park restaurant and two pubs serving food in the village of Clarbeston Road (3 miles). Golf and horse riding are within 5 miles.

The Corner Cottage was very comfy. The wood burning stove was a real treat on the cold evenings. One thing to mention, the same as a previous review was the clear glass in the front foor opposite the bathroom. Should have a blind in front. Nice to be able to use the swimming pool. The only thing was it needed a bit of love and care. Saying that we would definitely stay again.

We went out of peak season. In the peak it would be busy and noisy. The area was geared up for families ,play areas, swimming pool, cottages all near to each other and a reservoir for fishing. The property is old and characterful but it was damp, the bathroom towel radiator wasn't plumbed, cooker hood didn't work and the 1 bedroom was very, very small. The original owners had not wanted to extend the buildings and fitted everything into the space to keep the character . The kitchen and bathroom were very modern, lounge/diner cosy,

The cottage was very well equipped. There were heaters and a wood burner which were welcome on chilly evenings. Although on a complex we were away from the main facilities so it was quiet and private. We didn't use the pool or other facilities. A 'welcome pack' with a few basics (tea, coffee, milk, washing up liquid/dishwasher tabs, bathroom soap) would have given the cottage a more personal touch.
