Description

With a wood burner, table tennis, vast natural grounds, fantastic views and so much more, this property is a holiday home like no other just a short walk from the sea.

Standing in an elevated position with magnificent views across Loch Craignish and beyond towards the Sound of Jura and The Paps, Corlach is a stunning and contemporary detached holiday home with patio doors opening to east and west terraces for morning and evening sunshine. The busy village of Ardfern is close by, with its range of local amenities, including a village store, a café and a pub. The yacht centre contains a well stocked chandlery with fashionable clothing, as well as hardware. The village of Craobh Haven, three miles away, also has a Marina and a good pub/restaurant.

Nearby, Oban offers a more extensive range of services, with good shopping, a leisure centre and a selection of seafood restaurants. From Oban there are plenty of ferries to the Inner Hebrides, including the isles of Mull, Iona and Staffa.

Much to the delight of history enthusiasts, the area is steeped in a rich heritage. Archaeological remains are in abundance here - Kilmartin Glen has at least 350 ancient relics, 150 of which are prehistoric. Explore the Crinan Canal, Knapdale National Scenic Area, or head to Kintyre Peninsula, with its white sandy beaches and rugged coastline. Wildlife lovers won’t be disappointed either, as the region is a hotspot for porpoise, dolphins, minke whales and basking sharks. Bird-watching highlights include sea eagles, golden eagles and puffins, whilst otters, seals and deer can be seen along the shore.
There are plenty of walks and outdoor activities nearby, including horse riding, fishing on a nearby hill loch, cycling, golf and a variety of water sports to name but a few. Surrounded by beautiful scenery, rugged glens and sea lochs, this is truly an ideal base for touring the west coast of Scotland or simply to relax and take in the view. Beach 1 mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Our second visit to this lovely haven of tranquility! Downsides? really not much, it may be a little remote for some (23 miles from Oban and 13 from Lochgilphead) but this can be seen (as we do) as a definite plus, with a little shop a couple of mins away in Ardfern and a superb pub at Craobh haven a few minutes away. The fact that we as a family came back after a visit two years ago says it all really! So peaceful and those views are spectacular. Paul the owner lives a the bottom of the drive in the farmhouse and as always looked after us well without being intrusive. We really couldn't ask for more in the way of amenities and lovely garden as well! Tempted to put on a bad review so we can book again (only joking!!) next year!

A fabulous holiday in a fabulous location - you can't get better than a luxury holiday cottage directly overlooking the sea. The view from the huge picture windows changed on a daily basis depending on the weather. We could have stayed at home all day just watching the changing scenery! The cottage itself is well-equipped with comfortable beds, squashy sofa, large TV (which we didn't need as the view from the window was much more interesting), a superb kitchen with dishwasher, double oven, microwave, two fridge-freezers and a quooker tap, outside sitting and dining areas, and did I mention the view?! We also enjoyed the table tennis in the garage! There's loads of places to visit locally and farther afield. We went to Kilmartin, Loch Awe, Kilchurn Castle, Carnasserie Castle, Glencoe and the Hollow Mountain at Cruachan. Try Poppies Garden Centre near Oban for superb breakfasts and lunches. Many thanks too to the very friendly and helpful owners. We fully recommend Corlach, a perfect holiday cottage in an amazing location!

We had a fantastic time away at Corlach. The 'cottage' was well equipped, very spacious and had terrific views up the loch to Jura. The house was very peaceful (once the children were asleep!) and we enjoyed exploring the surrounding area. There is a well stocked (small) village shop ~2miles away. We cooked for ourselves but there are a few places to eat locally, probably easier reached by car. We were very sorry to have to leave!
