On arrival we unpacked and the first thing to hit us in the bedrooms was the smell all three bedrooms smelt foisty, not nice , opening the windows to let air circulate didn't help neither did the air freshener's . Also in the master bedroom there were cobwebs between the wall and the wardrobe right at the front . Had to catch numerous spiders everyday in the bedrooms. The two bathrooms were clean but the shower screen in the main bathroom leaked and water had to be mopped up after every shower also we had to squeegee down the walls as the extraction was inadequate, walls we soaked after a 5 minute shower. We could not open the window while showering due to the steps down to all the cottages . Upstairs was well equipped in the open plan living area , coffee ,tea , sugar ,milk and chocolate hobnobs were left out so as you don't have to rush out and buy some if you don't take any with you . We paid for the extra pet insurance thinking we would be able to leave our dog while we went for a swim in the pool or had a meal but when we checked the house rules in the folder it basically said under no circumstances were you to leave your pet alone and unattended at any time. Needless to say he went everywhere with us and one member of the family had to stay with the dog when the rest of the family went swimming ( so I wouldn't bother with the extra pet insurance if I were you ). We had issues with the TV as well , the picture kept breaking up on us every day we got that fed up with it we went and bought some dvds to watch . The wife tried using the washing machine that was in the back of a small cupboard area but gave up on it in the end and we ended up going to the local laundry to rewash and dry the clothes that would not spin dry . Needless to say we will not be using Coed Bel again for our holidays. Please be aware it is communal parking when it said parking space for two cars I assumed we would be parking on a driveway/ similar area , not so , park up walk down some steps down the footpath to the entrance to the accommodation. Just glad we didn't have my disabled mum with us , like the last three years that we have been away or we would have been in trouble. It would be worth putting the communal parking and steps in the description so it does not cause any problems for people if they didn't think to ask .

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback on your stay at Coed Bel. In answer to your comments I will deal with them separately. Damp - The bedrooms on the property do not get the sun at all and the cleaner tells me it has been a very wet summer there so I feel this explains the musty smell, this may have been slightly alleviated by putting the bedroom heating on. The property does not have a damp problem generally. Shower - I have asked our plumber to check out the shower screen in the main bathroom to see if it can be adjusted to stop the leak but no-one else has ever mentioned this problem. Washing machine - I’m sorry you couldn’t get the machine working; I’ve contacted our repair guy to come and investigate / fix the problem. Pets - When you booked the property it clearly states in the terms and conditions that pets must not be left alone in the property. Parking - As stated in the description, the parking is communal which in no way suggests individual driveways. Spiders - The property is in the countryside and therefore spiders are likely to be around. I hope you managed to enjoy your holiday in spite of these difficulties.

We love staying at Honicombe with our 2 kids. This property was fine for us although it could do with a bit of a refurb. The bedrooms smelled a bit damp and it felt like it hadn't been let for a while. Loo seats were loose. Couldn't get the washing machine to work so had to do washing at a launderette. Some batteries needed replacing and bedrooms could do with radio clocks. Property looked better once all our stuff was in it.
