Very pleasant cottage, everything you need except for wifi, very well thought out regarding your needs for day to day living, missed the wifi, but after a couple of days it was an exprience to go back to the days before the Internet and wifi, pity the weather was not on our side to uterlise the garden space, but that is not down to the cottage or its owners, Thank You

A lovely cottage with everything we needed. The wifi can be intermittent but we went to the lake district to enjoy the amazing scenery and have a comfortable relaxing holiday and this was the perfect place for it. The local pub is just a stroll down the lane and serves really nice meals so no need to cook but everything provided if you want to stay in.

I would recommend this cottage up to a point BUT it is not as advertised in that the WIFI is very flaky and unreliable and the road between the A-road and the cottage is only for experienced drivers as it is like a corkscrew ride at a fairground. Having said that the cottage is very comfortable but it is right on the main road of the hamlet and not very private unless you keep the blinds down. That didn't faze us as the conservatory was ideal to sit out in and eat, and the garden was nice to look at. Unfortunately it was rather overgrown so we couldn't actually use it. The location is very quiet as it is very rural but quite close to the South Lakes, specifically Coniston Water, Windermere Water with its Railway and to Ravenglass and their miniature railway.

Great holiday cottage and location. The beach is 10 min walk away and is pebbles at the top, then sand after 20+ meters. We walked for a good hour and only saw 4 other people during that time. We tried the pub (1 min walk) a couple of nights and had a good meal, would eat there again. All roads were quiet and it was easy to get around the Lakes. Highly recommend a visit to Eskdale and Wast Water - much quieter than the usual tourist hot spots further away. Comfort and equipment The mattress was truly dreadful; probably the worst I've slept on during my 49 years of life. It was so bad, we had to come home a night early so we could get some sleep. If the mattress were replaced, I'd definitely score a "9". Local amenities There are no shops or any facilities in Silecroft apart from the 1 pub. Nearest shops we could find were in Bootle (shuts at 5.30pm) and Millom. Overall, I'd recommend this cottage if the mattress is replaced.
