Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. Cottage was excellent. We were out of season ( on purpose) so cafes etc were sometimes closed for winter.

We stayed in a cottage in Freshwater Bay. We arrived for the first week in October, which by luck was when the beach restrictions for dogs was lifted. Granted it was quiet, but that was our choice of location. The cafe near the beach was only open once in our weeks stay, but we often drove out and about anyway so it wasn’t like it was a big miss. The cottage was great. Very clean with lots of added things like milk, Breakfast Cereals, logs for the fire, tea, coffee etc. Our host made absolutely sure the cottage was well prepared despite us arriving at 1pm. Nothing is ever going to be perfect but these couple of things are nothing more than trivial at best, but feedback is always good. There was a choice of 3 bedrooms despite booking for just two of us, but I found the front bedrooms bed very uncomfortable, so I took the back bedroom after that. I do have a memory mattress at home so it’s not surprising I suffered a bit. I did sleep better on the other bed though. The second problem was the entrance when driving out of Coastguard Cottages. It’s so blind that you have inch out into the road to see oncoming traffic. It was pretty quiet for us, but I can imagine in the height of the summer it becoming very dangerous. But that’s not the cottages fault. Overall it was pretty impressive and we got great value for money despite there being just two of us and two dogs. There’s a big Co-op just 5 minutes away to. We ate out most nights and all within reach within 10 minutes. We particularly liked the Waterfront. Others where the Sun Inn, the Sun and The Highdown. I can’t recall the last one unfortunately, but Waterfront was just so nice and right next to the sea.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Really glad you had a nice stay at Coastguard Cottage and thank you for your feedback. Regarding the beds all 3 have new and good quality sprung mattresses so we are sorry you did not personally find them comfortable, generally we have had positive feedback regarding the comfort of the beds. Regarding the lane exit, it is of course important to be cautious with the summer traffic but as far as we are aware none of our guests or ourselves have had any problems pulling out of the lane in either direction. Hope to welcome you at Coastguard Cottage again.

A lovely cottage in a great location with easy access to the beaches and the wonderful walks of south west IOW. Also very convenient for meeting up with family who live in Freshwater.

Absolutely delighted with our holiday. The cottage was wonderful, we had the morning sunshine in the front of the cottage with a lovely enclosed garden with lawn and fruit trees, and in the evening, sunshine in the back garden, again completely enclosed with lawn and patio area. The Owner provided "extras" beyond our expectations, the kitchen range was fabulous and kitchen well-equipped. The sitting room was lovely with good quality TV DVD and radio CD player and lots of local interest books to read. The sofa and arm chairs were very comfortable. Plenty of hot water always and the bathroom shower was excellent. The beds were so comfy that we all slept well being in such a peaceful location. Finally, being only a few metres from the beach what more could one want? Would highly recommend Coastguard Cottage to all, who will leave feeling 100 per cent better than on arrival.
