A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

This characterful, Grade II listed cottage, once owned by an 18th-century coachman, is perfect for families wanting to explore East Yorkshire.

This delightful semi-detached, Grade II listed cottage, set in the heart of the quaint Wolds village of Nafferton, was once owned by a former 18th-century coachman. On renovation, care was taken to retain the character and charm in this cosy cottage, and there are still original features in every room. Visitors can enjoy curling up by the roaring multi-fuel burner or sitting out in the sunny courtyard. The quirky stairs are steep and winding, and lead to two cheerful bedrooms with excellent quality beds.
Nafferton village boasts many amenities for a village of its size, including a railway station, well-stocked convenience store, a fish and chip shop and three pubs serving anything from traditional bar meals to Greek food. The Mere was once a mill pond and is now the focal point of the village, a designated conservation area. The main railway line from Hull to Scarborough still runs through the village, and is just a short walk from the cottage. Here visitors can take a train to Driffield, Hull, Bridlington and Scarborough, an easy and relaxing way to explore the area. Driffield is approximately 3 miles away, a bustling town with supermarkets, swimming pool and restaurants.
Walkers and cyclists can enjoy numerous trails from the doorstep and there is a bike store provided in the cottage courtyard. The surrounding Yorkshire Wolds countryside inspired the famous Hockney paintings, and a scenic drive through the chalk landscapes leads to the Heritage coastline and the North York Moors. Visit the stately homes at Burton Agnes, Sledmere and Sewerby Hall and enjoy a day out in Beverley, 19 miles, a bustling market town packed with historical buildings, an awe-inspiring minster and racecourse. Hull and The Deep aquarium and the ancient walled city of York are both within an hour’s drive. Driffield, Bridlington and Scarborough have golf courses and are all well served by buses, as is Hull. Beach 7 miles. Shop 100 yards, pub 300 yards and restaurant 500 yards.

We had a wonderful time staying at this beautiful cottage and our host went above and beyond to ensure we felt extremely welcome when we arrived by decorating the cottage for Christmas and providing tea, coffee, mince pies and more which was so lovely. Would definitely recommend a stay in this fantastic cottage to anyone.

Only minor criticism- Wi-Fi would have been nice, to be able to look up local amenities. Lovely cottage, beautifully decorated - little touches made the stay very special. Will definitely be back and will reccomend to family and friends

Lovely, well equipped and spotlessly clean cottage.Excellent welcome pack. The only draw back was lack of wi-fi for exploring and planning what to do in the area. Poor 4G signal. Fortunately I had done some research before travelling so had some idea of what to do / where to go. Lots of information leaflets in the cottage but most say to check website for up to date info on opening times etc. This is only a minor drawback but in this day and age most info etc is on line. Also, the stairs are VERY steep at the top, so steep that a rope is provided to hold onto!!

Fantastic cottage. we had a problem with the TV which the owners sorted by replacing that day . I couldn't recommend the coachman's cottage highly enough .

Lovely, well-equipped cottage. Really appreciated welcome pack of cream tea and fizz! Only slight downside was lack of internet and a poor mobile phone signal, which made looking up local amenities problematic. Friendly locals helped, however. Would definitely recommend.

Only gripe were the stairs, manageable but with care.
