Close to Anderby Creek

Set within the peaceful orchard gardens of the old Priory Farm in Anderby’s nature preservation area, in the Coastal Park, these exceptionally lovely cottages Wisteria Cottage (ref E5094), Rose Barn (ref E5095) and Clematis Cottage (ref E5096), share a pretty courtyard whilst each enjoying its own enclosed private garden and patio with hot tub. The luxuriously appointed cottage interiors are fresh and contemporary and the welcoming owner’s talent in garden design is evident in the aromatic herbs and gorgeous planting gracing the beautiful patio areas. The coastal path runs both north and south and locally many waymarked footpaths invite walkers. Just 1½ miles away is the glorious beach at Anderby Creek, which now boasts a new ‘cloud interpretation platform’ and bird hide as well as superb sands, a licensed beach cafe, seasonal shop and pub. (Dogs are welcome on part of the beach all year round although prohibited in the main bathing area in summer). Golf, coarse and sea fishing and horse riding are all enjoyed nearby. The East Coast’s diverse delights include fantastic beaches, seal havens, with breeding seals on the sands at Donna Nook in November, bird sanctuaries and of course the traditional seaside fun, restaurants and takeaways at Chapel St Leonards, 3½ miles, and Skegness, 9 miles, home of Fantasy Island theme park. The market town of Alford’s famous windmill is 4 miles, the city of Lincoln’s medieval centre and vibrant waterfront are an easy drive, and the area’s aviation museums are always popular.
The cottages can be booked together to accommodate up to 14 guests.

From the outside it looked a lovely little cottage but became disappointed once inside. There was no light bulb in one of the bedrooms. The bathroom was very bland, holes in the wall where a towel rail had been, bath towels more like hand towels and not soft at all. Living area was a 2 seater settee not ideal for 4 people. Lots of dead spiders in light fitting. Kitchen area was ok but for example there was only 3 side plates. Usually when we have stayed in cottages there are complimentary bits eg, biscuits, milk perhaps wine, a few teabags etc but there was nothing at all not even hand wash or sanitizer. Outside the back garden could of done with a tidy up. The patio furniture definitely needed a clean down, the chairs were green so could only use 2 out of the 4 chairs. Needed more outside lighting as could hardly see which is not great when getting in and out the hot tub.

We really enjoyed out short break at Clematis Cottage. It is situated in a very quiet little village, just a few minutes drive from Anderby creek which was great for walking and also had a fabulous little cafe. Our host, Alistair was very helpful and accommodating, and the problems the lady before us reported had all been rectified. The hot tub was lovely, and we were able to use it every day as we had amazing weather. The only drawback was the seating area, which is really just a two seater sofa at the end of the kitchen, there is not a separate lounge, which I had expected. This is probably ok for a couple, but there were four of us staying so it wasn’t very comfortable for us to sit here in the evening. The cottage would also benefit with a little updating.

*Musty & doggy smell very strong on arrival, slightly disappeared but needed to buy air freshner spray and block to put in the double bedroom. *dog hair on floors and bedding * had to defrost freezer compartment (washing up bowl was full of ice) and then found the door did not shut so got bad again quickly *dirty pots in dishwasher from previous guests so didn't touch them *no bulb in main light in twin bedroom *bottom of shower screen door (seal) mouldy and scum on taps in sink * no cleaning checklist as advised and it didn't look like or smelt like any cleaning had been done and if so very little *strange scratching/creaking noises during the night in both bedrooms that caused us disturbed nights sleep on all 4 nights - possibly mice *windows (inside & out) looked like they'd not been brushed down or cleaned in a long time *we would not recommend this cottage or come again
