Great place to stay, handy for York, moors and east coast. Very comfortable & homely cottage, nothing too much trouble for the staff on site. The bathroom could have done with a re-furb. The pool room was warm and inviting but the water itself was too cold for a swim.

A very good cottage for the price although some areas e.g. bathroom, games room and pool changing area would benefit from some modernisation and the improved cleanliness that would result from this would match the quality of the shared lounge and other parts of the cottage but all areas were usable and pool was enjoyed by the family every day. A very good location to explore York and further afield, with shopping and park and ride close by at Monks Cross. We had a good holiday and would stay again in the future.

Although we had a great holiday, the Moore cottage was disappointing. On arrival there was a strong smell of furniture polish which was quite overpowering. The cottage was clean on the surface but in every corner of each room there were spiders and webs. The first time we used the shower, the drain was blocked so the bathroom got slightly flooded. We also had a thunder storm which caused a leak in the ceiling so we spent two days circling around a bucket in the living room! We reported this on the Sunday morning and both issues had been fixed by the time we returned to the cottage after a day out on the Monday afternoon. But nobody called to apologise for the inconvenience. On the rest of the site we saw a manhole cover that was loose just next to the play area which was dangerous. We also didn’t realise quite how busy the A64 was either, so you couldn’t really go for a walk straight from the cottage and it could take some time waiting for a gap in the traffic to pull out in the car. The one plus of the cottage was the pool. We used it several times and as the shower in our room was so rubbish we used the showers at the pool too.
