We really enjoyed our stay and Claremont House and Chris was lovely. The hot tub and spa was a lovely addition to the place, although the hot tub could have done with a good clean and a couple of the nozzles weren't working properly. Off street parking was a plus if a little congested at times. This place was advertised as a luxury apartment but for me it lacked the luxury part which is reflected in my review. If this hadn't have been advertised as luxury my review would be very different as it's a nice place to stay. The following is what took away the luxury part for me: No housekeeping all week, only 1 spare loo roll provided and no spare bin bags. The bed was very soft and could do with a new mattress. The bedding had a rough pattern on the duvet cover and pillow cases, I would suggest changing these for plain ones. The towels were too small and mismatched, consider replacing with matching bath sheets. There was a random freezer in the bedroom, would never use it because of the noise it would make, so just remove it. Consider adding some curtains in the bedroom because the sun comes through the slats in the very nice wooden blinds and shined straight into my face from about 5/6am. The light in the bathroom was a waste of time, could barely tell it had been switched on, consider upgrading to a brighter unit/bulb. Other than that everything else was perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had cockroaches in the kitchen and the extraction fan didn't work and the matrerss was verry uncomfortable as springs dug in to You as you lay

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; I am disappointed with your review. I am sorry that you did not find Claremont House to your satisfaction. The suggestion that there were cockroaches in the kitchen (2) was and is a matter of grate concern to me. You mentioned the problem on the evening before you departed. The following day I arranged for Five Star Pest Control to investigate the problem. They carried out a very thorough investigation of the kitchen and the whole of the suite but were unable to locate cockroaches or indeed any other infestation in the kitchen or the suite. They placed bug traps in the kitchen which were left for 7 days. They have been checked and no bugs were found. I am sorry you had this experience, but I am unable to explain it. Thank you for drawing to my attention that the extractor fan in the bathroom did not work. I was able to ascertain this was a fuse which has now been replaced. Again, I am sorry you found the mattress uncomfortable. It is not a complaint that I have received previously. The mattresses in my suites are changed regularly and I have frequently been complemented on the comfortable nights’ sleep that people have had. On the next occasion that the suite is available I will arrange to spend the night on the mattress. Although Claremont House did not meet your expectations I am pleased that you found the location and local amenities to your satisfaction.

We enjoyed our short break on the Isle of Wight, and this is a comfortable, well looked after apartment. It only takes a few minutes to walk to the seafront, pier and shopping street, but it is uphill on the way back. There’s plenty to do on the island even out of season.
