Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Well placed for touring, this cottage is close to golden, sandy beaches and the many family attractions of Newquay.

Originally built circa 1700, this pretty cottage adjoins the owner’s house and has a large, lawned garden, a sunny, sheltered outdoor dining and barbecue area. Set just inland from Newquay on Cornwall’s dramatic north coast, Chy Gwarek is the perfect holiday base from which to enjoy the golden beaches at Crantock, Fistral, Holywell Bay, Porth and Watergate (the latter being home to one of Jamie Oliver’s restaurants). Newquay has an abundance of beaches that cater for everyone, from surfing and surf schools to rock pools and a tidal river, which is the perfect place for crabbing and stand-up paddle boarding (the latest trend to get you on the water!). Newquay Zoo, leisure centre, tennis club and boating lake provide a distraction from the beaches if one is needed. There are plentiful restaurants, bars and cafés, as well as shops for a little retail therapy. The harbour is an attraction all of its own, with sea fishing trips and gig rowing, along with a harbourside seafood restaurant - a locals’ favourite. For an alternative way to spend the day, the cottage is perfectly located for touring Cornwall, including the south coast with its many historic houses and gardens. Enjoy visiting the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Caerhays Castle. The coastal road in north Cornwall leads to Padstow, home to Rick Stein’s culinary empire, and is a stunning, working fishing village. Explore St Ives, or Truro with its Gothic cathedral, theatre and narrow quaint lanes. Golf, horse riding, bike hire and water sports are all close by. Beach 5 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

We had a wonderful time at Chy Gwarek, the photos do not do the property justice, its a lovely comfy home from home. Our 7 and 5 year old loved the hot tub, even though the weather was a little to hot for us to use it much, not that I'm complaining. We had fantastic weather which made this our favourite family holiday to date, would definitely return.

We had a fantastic week in the cottage. It was located perfectly for exploring Newquay, Perranporth and Falmouth and has excellent road connections. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay and the owners were very welcoming. We were very fortunate to have fantastic weather for our stay. The cottage itself was so lovely and comfortable and it felt like home. Would love to return again in the future.

Debbie & Andy are the perfect hosts. Nothing too much trouble, every detail thought of. Thank you both so much!

We had a lovely week at the cottage. Debbie and Andy were friendly and helpful, they were at hand to help us with any issues and gave some wonderful recommendations for places to see in Cornwall. The cottage was cosy, we enjoyed the fire and the hot tub and the kitchen was well stocked with all the things we needed.

Comfortable cottage, friendly owners, great location. The only minus point is for the hot tub curfew - it can't be used after 9pm so as not to disturb the neighbours, but it meant that by the time we had put our daughter to bed it was really to late to be rushing to the hot tub, and not very relaxing once we were in there if we had to worry about getting out in time.

Stayed here for two weeks in November and couldn't have wanted for anything more. The location is great for seeing the whole of Cornwall, very central location. Andy and Debbie were like gold dust.... nothing was too much trouble. They were always on hand if required and excelled themselves when a problem occurred with the hot tub... all resolved within 24 hours they really pulled all the stops out. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. We rarely revisit the same areas but I certainly wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would certainly recommend it to anyone.

Andy and Debbie were amazing hosts. There was nothing missing, there is even a gravy boat and garlic press! They were attentive but not intrusive but they were there if you needed anything. They are knowledgeable about the area and can offer advice on places to visit or eat. The bed was so comfortable we just didn't want to get out and the quality of all the products and furniture were second to none. Clearly a well cherished place! The welcome drink and basket of goodies was very much appreciated. Will certainly be looking to book again in the near future - if there is any availability! Thank you.
