Visit England ROSE award winner 2018Set in a wonderful, sought after location in the small village of Pitminster, nestling beneath the Blackdown Hills and Taunton, this delightful 300 year old barn conversion has been tastefully restored to offer an exceptionally lovely holiday home. Chilcott’s Barn is on a working sheep and cattle farm, and has superb country views, which can be enjoyed from inside as well as from the hot tub on the terrace. Developed to a high standard of luxury, there is an open plan living/dining/kitchen area with air sourced underfloor heating and flagstone floor. Upstairs there are three beautifully decorated bedrooms with Smart TVs (including Sky TV). The owners also provide a substantial welcome pack consisting of a bottle of quality wine, homemade cake, fresh bread, butter, milk, sugar, salt and pepper, homemade jam, free-range eggs, chocolates, hot chocolate, tea, coffee (both instant and fresh) and homemade cordial. Your every need for the kitchen is provided, from dishwasher tablets to fabric conditioner. To add to the luxury, white fluffy bath robes, and bath and hand towels are also provided, as well as hairdryers in all the bedrooms. This is a great accommodation to get away from it all, but with plenty to enjoy nearby. For those who love walking, the Blackdown Hills and the Quantock Hills are located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where you will find many footpaths to explore. Exmoor National Park is also well worth a visit. In the county town of Taunton, you will find a castle and a museum, along with shops and a selection of restaurants. The West Somerset Steam Railway from Bishop’s Lydeard to Minehead, travels through beautiful countryside with views of the Quantock Hills and along the Exmoor coast. You can also enjoy family days out at the Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum, Diggerland in Cullompton, the multi award winning Haynes International Motor Museum, Glastonbury Tor and Abbey, and Clarks Factory Village. Wookey Hole Caves and Cheddar Gorge are approximately one hour’s drive away and are worth a visit. You may also wish to visit Dorset’s famous Jurassic Coast, which is a World Heritage Site. On your return, you can relax in the hot tub and enjoy a barbecue. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
