Cheswood was the perfect size for our group of six, comfortable and spacious. My only criticism is that the cleanliness was not as good as we'd expected. It would appear that the property was not cleaned any time close to our arrival as some areas were dusty, coffee tables had what looked like coffee stains on them and the small single bedroom and ensuite both had over 30 ladybirds in the window areas and within the curtains, so first thing we had to do was to vacuum which was not what I went on holiday to do.

Cheswood is a lovely house in a fantastic setting, set over 3 floors, kitchen and dining area down stairs, living room and master bedroom on 1st floor and 3 further bedrooms on top floor. It's a large house with convector style heating so there are cold patches in places but all the rooms heat fine. There is also an oil fired radiator in the dining room which if turned on near the bottom of the stairs heats the area nicely. The master bedroom ensuite also has an access door from the landing so you'll need to lock it when inside. Access is via the ground floor door key lock, you can exit via the 1st floor front door but we found no keys to regain access via that door. Access to the property is via a couple of hairpin bends which are fine if you take your time. The house is quite high up so be prepared for a stiff climb if on foot. Overall its a fantastic house with beautiful views down towards the river Lyn although in summer I suspect the view will be blocked by the many trees, it's lovely and quiet and well worth the walk up the hill. If i had 1 criticism it would be that the utility room would be better as a family shower room but this does not detract from the overall appeal of the house. Definitely worth a stay.

We had a fantastic 3 days in Cheswood to celebrate a 60th birthday with the family. It concentrated the mind getting to it, but we were made aware, so brilliant . It felt as if we were miles from anywhere but in fact, very little effort to walk down to the harbour. Plenty of space for the six of us plus a dog.

Enjoyed our stay immensely, although approach isn't by standard road, as long as you take it slowly then it's fine. Accommodation for six adults, a three year old and two dogs was perfect. Had everything we needed.

Arrived about 7pm house was dark and cold. But once we found out to work heating it warmed up a treat apart from 2 of the storage heaters. Lovely views. So quiet. Would stay again.

Very strong smell of dogs and property felt damp. Access up to the property is very difficult. Fortunately we had a 4 wheel drive car but the drive up was still very scary. We arrived in the dark due to traffic delays and one of my granddaughters suffered a panic attack on the way up to the property, which was not a good start to our holiday. Although your details mentioned the 180 deg turns it was not made clear that these were on a single track, extremely steep climb, and on the edge oF a sheer drop! We will not be visiting this property again , although Lynmouth itself was a lovely place to stay.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your recent comments made regarding Cheswood. We welcome feedback and attempt to remedy any concerns raised. We have always welcomed well behaved dogs but due to recent feedback from some of our guests saying they found the property smelling of dogs, we have taken the following action. As from today we have decided to no longer accept dogs. We will of course honour any bookings already taken. We have also decided to take some action regarding the comments made about the steep drop at the top of the driveway. We can understand that this may be of concern to some of our guests who are not familiar with the road. As such fence posts and railings will be erected as soon as possible. This should then give some confidence to our guests when arriving at Cheswood.
