Children will love Longleat Safari Park and there are beaches galore along the World Heritage Jurassic Coast.

Situated on the edge of Gillingham in North Dorset, close to the Wiltshire/Somerset border, these two detached converted barns (refs 27736 and 27737), both for four and which can be booked independently or together, offer very presentable quality holiday accommodation in which to unwind, relax and enjoy the wealth of countryside and many attractions to be found in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire. Within easy driving distance are family attractions such as the Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum with its mock aircraft carrier deck and Concorde, the Haynes Motor Museum with its huge collection of classic cars, Stourhead House and Gardens and, of course not to be missed, Longleat House and Safari Park which the children will love and which will give you some memorable moments. Further afield visit the bustling seaside resort of Weymouth with its sandy beach, the famous World Heritage Jurassic Coast and, inland, the Georgian city of Bath with its Pump Room, Roman Baths, many museums and shops. Alternatively, simply unwind enjoying country walking, village pubs in which to wine and dine, golf and fishing, or visit the quaint character towns of Shaftesbury and Sherborne. Shop and restaurant 1 mile, pub 400 yards.

    It was our 3rd time staying at Barn Owl Cottage. It could do with up dating the sofa and chair as rather tatty and ripped in places. Otherwise very comfortable.

    We had a good holiday in Barn Owl Cottage which was excellently equipped. However there was a downside - no wi fi. There is only one restaurant within walking distance and the road to it is very narrow, very busy and therefore dangerous, Gillingham itself is not very useful for eating out and the local restaurant is so busy that it is not possible at weekends to get in unless you have booked - we were only able to eat there once in the week.

    Lovely barn conversion, plenty of room. Seating area needs attention, as not really up to standard. Everything else needed is provided. Comfy bed etc., we had a problem with rain coming in over bedroom window, only had a towel to soak it up with) window ledge full! Rang owner who was supposed to be coming over to take a look and replenish towel, as we were only left one each for the week. He didn't appear? Beautiful building, very fit for perpose, would be a shame to neglect the maintenance /customer care.

    We had a lovely stay in Gillingham. House was lovely , although beds and sofa a little tired.

    Spent a great 3 days at this cottage Location is very quiet with nice views. Excellent easy parking for 2 cars off road Inside it was nicely clean with every amenity we needed. Very comfortable armchairs. Kitchen well equipped . Bed room ensuite of a good quality with a comfortable bed Under floor heating is good but the individual controllers are difficult to understand with the icons and the instructions in such small print! Controller would not unlock from frost setting in one room! Neighbours in the other cottage had similar problems. However--this did not detract from a great stay and we would definitely return.
