Description

Enjoying marvellous views and nestling in rural Wraxall, this property is perfect for a relaxing break.

National Trust Holiday Cottage

Chaplain’s Lodge is a beautifully restored mid-Victorian gate-lodge, providing all the comforts of a country retreat. Built in the 1890s in Gothic revival style, it retains typical decorations of dark painted wood, Victorian wallpapers and Victorian furniture.

The National Trust bought the house in 2002 after the death of Baron Wraxall. The lodge marked the northern entrance to the Tyntesfield Estate, and has views over the gardens, as well as having its own lovely private garden. Guests can enjoy the 500-acre estate, including woodland walks and the working kitchen garden, plus complimentary entry to the main house.

The village of Wraxall is situated in North Somerset, lying between the city of Bristol and the Bristol Channel. The village is also the home of Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm. This zoo has a large collection of animals, with hands on experience and children’s play areas.

Just seven miles from Bristol and within easy reach of the M5, Tyntesfield offers the perfect retreat, but is within easy reach of local attractions and amenities. Not only does a stay in this area provide the opportunity to visit bustling Bristol and elegant Bath, but also the depths of rural Somerset, glorious Gloucestershire and the rolling Cotswold hills. Visit the nearby coastline and long sandy beaches at Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea, and the quieter Victorian resort of Clevedon. Within an hours drive, one can reach Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole Caves, the cathedral city of Wells and the Glastonbury Tor. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
