Enjoying views over the Duddon Valley, this property is surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Caw and Stickle Fells.

Hugging the great Furness Fells enjoying views over the tranquil Duddon Valley is this gem of a property; a beautifully traditional two bedroom cottage.

This former chapel in the Lakes remains a safe haven even today for holiday goers and their furry companions. The property holds on to its rustic roots with dry-stone walling around the garden, beamed living room and charming wooden décor inside. Ideal for explorers new to the Lake District, some of the best fell walking in Cumbria can be found leading right past the front door. There are many routes and trails nearby, so be you novice or veteran hiker, there’s something for everyone.

Not only is the cottage great for the adventurous type, it’s also a fantastic retreat for those wanting some much needed peace and quiet. The garden flourishes with various floras and with such a tranquil woodland backing the property, your holiday is sure to go undisturbed. And when you do feel like socialising, there’s Ulpha’s shop, a post office and a pub full of warm and welcoming locals but a short walk away.

So sit back and relax and enjoy far-reaching views of the Caw and Stickle Fells from one of the best holiday cottages in the region.

Beamed living room. Well-equipped kitchen with dining area and tiled floor. Double bedroom with en-suite shower room and toilet. Bathroom with shower attachment and toilet. First floor: Double bedroom with additional single bed (for alternative sleeping).

A lovely, comfortable cottage, well equipped, fine views across the Duddon Valley, and set deep in the countryside, away from "busy" main Lakeland centres. Lots of good walks nearby, friendly owners Vicky and Nick provide plenty of local information. The cottage is fairly "remote", though there is a local Post Office / Stores for papers, and excellent pub, each a couple of miles away (in opposite directions). Maya the Collie enjoyed the mountain streams, we loved the peaceful setting and spectacular scenery.

We left after 2 days as was dig friendly but could only use the front garden, which was not comfortable as had no garden furniture. We like to sit out to eat but wasnt able to. We could sit in the back garden but had to keep the dog on a lead and the table to sit at was just outside the neighbours door. We chose a remote area to be in our own, but felt we didn't have the privacy we wanted.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are disappointed that you felt you had to leave early on this basis, as it was clear from the photos that the front garden does have a bench to sit on, a wooden bench for 2 people. We have a large pub style table/ bench in the back garden on a small patio, again this is shown in the photos and is not near the neighbour’s door. There are three reasons that we do not allow dogs off the lead in the back garden 1. There is a fenced drop that they could fall down 2. We have hens in the back 3. It is difficult to keep the back clear of dog mess. The gardens are described as shared; we try to keep out of the way as much as possible when we are in our own cottage or in the gardens. You both engaged us in lengthy conversations on several occasions and there were no mention of problems.
