We stayed for one week in the cottage. Vicky and Nick gave us a warm and enthusiastic welcome as we arrived and showed us around. The cottage looked nice, walls probably recently painted, carpet clean without spots and fine beds. In the cottage you will find plenty of imformation for walks and restaurants. We do have a few 'but's': 1) The furniture had seen the best time and needs replacement. The sofa in the living room needs special attention. 2) At the moment we stepped into the cottage we noticed a musty smell. The wood burner is not sufficient enough to dry the cottage and let us feel comfortable. We could not control the central heating system ourselves. Because of all the rain we and the cottage needed some heating. We prefer to control and choose ourselves the moment, duration and the temperature and don't want to ask each time to have it switched on. The first two days we didn't feel at ease in the situation. After a second request the central heating was switched on more frequently, which really helped to improve the humidity and our feeling of comfort.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner:- We are sorry that we seem to have had a few translation issues with regard to the heating system. We have an oil fired central heating system which we set by a timer and thermostat. Control in the cottage is by thermostats on the 3 main rads, which hadn't been turned up. There is an efficient wood burner in the lounge, we supply enough wood, coal, kindling and firelighters for a few days use. Thereafter it can be purchased locally. The cottage is not damp and musty, although it rained a lot the week you stayed in July. Glad to see you liked our painting and lack of spots on the carpets.

We had a great holiday with the best weather of the year. Walks straight from the door and the cottage is wonderful for bird watching and other wildlife. The coast and lakes are within easy reach and short driving distance. One of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in at home and abroad. (However, one small criticism. There is no mobile signal at the cottage and the only landline is in the owners cottage next door. If the owners are not there the instructions in case of emergency or illness are to drive to Ulpha Post Office to telephone for help. My husband drives but I do not so a 30 min walk there and back at least. A landline for 999 should be made available)
