The farmhouse is finished to a very high specification, and contained everything you could possibly need. The views are fantasic, especially if you are as lucky with the weather as we were. Would definitely book again.

Our small family and dog managed to make the best of this house and explored the surrounding areas. The house itself is lovely and incredibly well equipped. The garden is unfortunately non-existent and not fenced off properly and leads, via a 5 foot drop, into a field populated by sheep. There are also building materials around the property. We have a teenager who lives on WiFi- whilst we knew the WiFi would be weak, we had no idea it would be quite so poor - the full Sky TV package is rendered virtually useless for any features that require WIFI. During our visit we had two power cuts, one on the day of arrival for 6 hours, this meant that we could not use anything, including water as this runs off an electric pump. Due to the remoteness of the property this caused issues and after a 4 hour drive we did not really fancy trying to find a restaurant, as the owners have advised, or options for cooking with no signal and tired family. There was also a leak in the hallway after some rain. There are no external rubbish bins at the property- they are at the end of the ‘drive’ which is actually the main road turning. Not ideal if you pick up after your dog and don’t want to leave the bags lying around or transport rubbish in your brand new car. Dog walks - there aren’t many on the doorstep, I walked to the beach which unfortunately I found to be inaccessible due to the large slippery rocks. This is something to be aware of if you want to walk from the house. There are plenty of accessible beautiful beaches if you drive for 10/15 minutes. Changue is undoubtedly a lovely house and very well catered for with lots of extras in the property. The owners also have lots of advice, such as leave your devices at home, which is great as they will not work with the current WiFi set up. Our exceedingly high expectations were merely to have power, water, heat and a decent WiFi signal for the duration of our stay, so we agree that these expectations were not met.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are extremely concerned that you did not enjoy your stay at Changue. After a two year rebuild and a not inconsiderable sum, it is sad that for reasons outside of our control (mainly power cut) you felt your stay was not enjoyable. We have been providing Holiday accommodation now for nearly 20 years in various properties, and this is the first negative review we have ever had. With regard to the Internet, we state in the particulars that as the Farmhouse is a fairly remote property on the west coast of Scotland, it is never going to enjoy the connectivity of an urban setting. A Satellite Internet system with a 30GB/22mbps download monthly allowance is installed along with unlimited normal BT connection; Fibre Optic Broadband is ‘in scope’ and promised to the house soon. Unfortunately the Satellite Internet was totally used within a day or so of your arrival, leaving virtually nothing for the rest of the month. A full Sky package, with Sports and Films is provided, which should be adequate for most normal situations. As for the lack of a garden, due to the visiting Deer, Badgers, Hares etc., having a formal garden is beyond possibilities. The photos on the website for the property show that this is not for you if you require pretty flower borders and well-manicured bowling greens. As for there being ‘no dog walks’. With a right to roam being law in Scotland, as soon as one steps outside one is on a dog walk, although it should be mentioned that the area is ‘populated’ by sheep so care should be taken. With regard to the ‘slippery rocks’, on the beach, we apologise for our oversight in not steam cleaning these for your enjoyment. Yes, we admit, there is a leak on the porch. This is very frustrating for our builder, as it only happens occasionally when the wind is in a certain direction. We are (or I should say he is) working to solve this. We must also point out that Bins and Recycle Bins are provided at the House which we ask guests to take down to the end of the drive on leaving. With the driveway being nearly half a mile long, the refuse cart sadly does not come to the door. We feel we have done all we can to make your stay a pleasure. For reasons beyond our control, you had no power for the first 6 hours of your stay. This was unfortunate, but could easily have happened at your home address.

Fabulous stay - we usually leave a cottage and say ‘it was great but....’. No buts about Changue. More expensive than we would normally choose but we had a wonderful time and couldn’t improve the accommodation or welcoming touches so I would say it was worth it.
